Amazing!

By Jenn

from Vermont

Comments about Splat Complete Color Kit:

I have used the blue, pink and lavender shades on my hair! The blue and pink for ombr ends and recently the lavender all over my head. The only downfall I have with this product is that it does not come with quite enough bleach. I have thin shoulder length hair and there is just enough dye but those with thicker or longer hair I would recommend two boxes.

Comments about Splat Complete Color Kit:

I purchased the raspberry color, not only was there not enough bleach for my shoulder length hair, but the color came out as a hot pink, no where near the dark red advertised. It also washed out within a few days leaving my hair orange.

Comments about Splat Complete Color Kit:

I use splat colors on all of my hair not just highlights or streaks. The bleach is too harsh to change colors more than once a month but the color lasts from one color to the next. I do wish there were more colors for me to choose from I have tried all the ones on the market!

Comments about Splat Complete Color Kit:

This product (any of the colors) is best used for highlights or pops of color. I've used similar dyes in the past but as I am on a budget I went for the all in one kit for a change. And as I would expect from such a product to get half way decent results you have to have a bit of know how and a lot of patience.

I first sectioned off my hair and began with the bleach. I used foils so I would have better control of where the bleach was going on my head. My hair is medium to dark brown so I knew that different parts would process differently. The bleach is by no means easy to use or quality and would process unevenly on the same section of hair. With a lot of checking then adding more bleach then checking again and quick rinses in the sink to slow the processing of faster bleaching hair about 35 minutes after I started I finally decided this was the best my highlights would get a mostly brassy blonde streaked with a light blonde within. I hopped in the shower and shampooed (no conditioner). Got out and blow dried and started coloring. I could immediately see the color would be different but I liked it anyway and this mostly had to do with the fact that I bleached brassy and not white. I left the color in for about 20 minutes, the longer the better I was just bored of being in the bathroom, then got back in the shower. I rinsed like I was "lathering shampoo" a technique some other dye use that works well. Once the water ran pretty clear I lathered my whole head (this was the easiest way for me to coat all of my highlights) with intense conditioner then rinsed, trust me your hair might seem a bit greasy but this will hold the color better and if the color doesn't hold for some reason you wont have nasty dry bleached spots.

Another tip is if you're only doing a few highlights (which I would recommend is all you attempt with this product) DON'T THROW AWAY THE EXTRA COLOR use it for touch ups as the color washes out. All the color is is water based color if it gets to dry add a little more water. Ive touched up with it twice and it still works great. The color its self is fine to continue to use just not the bleach (obviously). They aren't any processing chemicals in the dye so don't be afraidto use it all over a couple months.

I gave this product a 3 because the bleach is really hard to use and thusly hard to achieve desired color. But still a fun product for some simple highlights.

Used this in my hair for just a fun streak of color. i absolutely loved it until i tried to get rid of it. It would not come out even with color remover it just turned light pink. i eventually had to dye my hair brown to cover it. would be great for someone who wanted long lasting color.

Comments about Splat Complete Color Kit:

I bought this, to fix my daughter's hair. The salon pink strip, had faded within 1week.i did her hair, and it's been a month and looks cute. We did the neckline, she has very long hair, the pink looks good when it's in a pony tail, or just peaking through, when it's down. The secret is to bleach the hair to be dyed, first. But, even if you don't want this to last, and don't bleach it, it is not a rinse, and will not just rinse out. The directions specially said to not get it on scalp, but since my daughter wears it up, I made sure to get the roots, which stained her scalp, and I thought it would be no big deal, but it was on it for at least 2 weeks, like a bad paint job. So, line the scalp with Vaseline, but know that under each hair follicle, it will stain, but we really didn't care, because use it was cute.

Comments about Splat Complete Color Kit:

I used the lusty lavender colour about a year ago and i was really looking forward to a nice lavender shade that made my hair look great. It instead made my hair very dry and brittle and this weird red/dark purple/pink colour. The bleaching was not bad at all and it did come out one nice shade but once the dye went in it all went bad. I was hoping that it wouldn't damage my hair too much because most of the other semi-permanent dyes i've used were conditioner based (manic panic, n'rage, ion color brilliance, etc.) and made my hair really soft. but after i applied the dye and washed it out, my hair was so dry and unmanageable. it looked absolutely horrendous. all things considered, if you want a completely different shade than you were expecting and extremely dry hair, then this is your product. absolutely disappointed to this day. i even used the exact shade on my friend's hair and it came out the same colour and brittleness as mine did. i realise that everyone's hair is different, but i'm not the only one that has had the same experience with Splat. i must say that it does last a long time. i dyed my hair in june and it didn't completely come out until the end of august, even after trying to dye it different colours, and my friend's hair is still the same colour.

      great color but stains!!!

      By Cassie

Comments about Splat Complete Color Kit:

I've been dying my hair for over 20 years now. I tend to love the reddish tones and thought it would be fun for a more intense color so I bought the crimson shade. I skipped the bleaching step figuring I would still get a good red color and I did. The shade is beautiful and 3 weeks later still vibrant. Those who dye their hair red will know it can quickly fade and start looking orangey. My only complaints are that this was a very thick dye and getting and even coating was difficult for me. I have thick hair and lots of it and it's long. I had to use thinner sections than I'm used to to ensure I didn't miss spots halfway down the shaft which made to process very time consuming. I also ignored the directions to not rub the product into the scalp because how else does one get the roots dyed? Well I was stuck wearing a hat for a week because it stained my scalp so badly even after 2-3 washings. It wasn't just that my scalp was red, but it was patchy! And it stained any skin it touched I had red marks on my back and people thought I had been beaten. Luckily I thought to put Vaseline around my hairline or my face would have been stained. My ears, neck, and spots on my arms were stained for days. Because of that I don't think I'll be repurchasing. I can't have to worry about needing to cover up. However, if I was wanting colors that weren't red, such as blue, pink, purple etc this product would be worth the staining hassle because of how nicely it's lasting (again I didn't bleach my hair which probably helps). I haven't noticed any adverse effects to the feel or texture to my hair either.
