Comments about Conair Xtreme Big Curls Hairsetter:

I had never used hot rollers before, so I came to the Ulta site to read reviews on products. I wanted something that was effective, but not too expensive. After looking through the listed products and reviews, I decided that I'd get this - and what a great decision it was! It heated up very quickly, and it wasn't hard to use at all. It can be a little difficult to figure out how to evenly wrap your hair around the roller at first, but it's easy to pick up on. The clips make the process easier, although if you prefer the metal pins, they're included as well. I left them in for about 20 minutes (while doing my makeup), and by the time I took them out, I had a full head of curls. All I had to do is shake them out a bit, and they looked like I had taken the time to individually curl each one with a curling iron! By the end of my work shift, approximately 9 hours later, most of the curls looked exactly like they had when I left my apartment, and that's really saying something, because my hair doesn't usually hold curl that well. The only thing I had any trouble with is when I moved around with the rollers in my hair, they started loosening up some. It wasn't much of a problem, though!

Comments about Conair Xtreme Big Curls Hairsetter:

My hair was getting too long for the Conair travel set (which works excellent) so I bought these. They heat up fast but not super hot. They give my hair great bounce without any extra product. The rollers themselves are lightweight and don't pull my hair. This set comes with the big clips which are great for securing hair and quick adjustments. The fleece on the rollers is good enough to help protect hair from the heat too.

Comments about Conair Xtreme Big Curls Hairsetter:

Just received the rollers and could not wait to try them. Love the fact that they come with both wire and plastic clips. Plugged them in and they only took a few minutes to heat up. Had them heating up while I was blow drying my hair. They were definitely hot enough for me and feel if they were any hotter, they might be too hot to the touch and hard to handle. Rollers are lightweight and they grip the hair good. Tried the plastic clips to see if they would leave dents. After having the rollers in for about 15 minutes, I removed the rollers and my hair had enormous body and curl and no dents! Hours later and my hair still looks great. I have thin, fine, color-treated hair that is hard to curl and handle. I am so pleased with the way the rollers worked on my hair.

Comments about Conair Xtreme Big Curls Hairsetter:

In spite of the fact that these rollers do not heat up enough to curl your hair within the 85 seconds as stated on the box, I found that after I plugged them in as I was drying my hair, they became very hot, and after leaving them in for around ten or fifteen minutes as I applied some of my make-up, they gave a nice curl to my naturally straight hair (which I get body waved once every couple of years or so, and has helped my straight hair to hold a curl all day long, and may help you too! :) The last perm I had was three years ago, so I give the credit to Conair for the fact that my hair can still hold a curl all day long).

The velvety flocked rollers in Conair's hot roller set means they will be gentle on your hair as they heat your hair giving your hair curl and volume!

Give this product a try! Your hair will thank you with healthy, undamaged curls! I have used Conair flocked rollers of some type for more than fifteen years now. This is my third purchase of one of their products, and I am pleased with this purchase and think you will be too!

I have recently been growing out my hair and needed help in the styling department. I use a round brush with blow drying my hair. I give myself some decent curls/waves. But I needed something on that second day. I don't like the sets that have multiple sizes. I do not want small or kinky curls. I just needed to waves and volume. And that is what I got. It was very quick to heat up and I love the gator clips. I loved the results. There were not kinky curls. They were perfect. It gave me enough volume and curl to style my hair and it kept throughout the day.

                    • Q:

Are the rollers smooth all the way around the barrel? I hate it when there is a split - it makes it more difficult to roll my hair because I don't want the ends of my hair to fall on that break in the smooth surface.
Asked on 1/21/2015 by Cindy from St. Pete, FL

                      1 answer

                      • Brand Expert

                        A:

The rollers are not smooth all the way around the barrel. There is a split in the middle of the rollers, as it is used for insertion on the heating plate to heat the rollers. This prong should not get in the way of rolling your hair. It is angled horizontally on the roller and not vertically.Try putting the ends of your hair on the opposite side of the split so that they do not fall in/on the break.

If you are looking for a hairsetter that is smooth all around, with no split in the barrel, try Conair's More Big Curls Hairsetter http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=prod6501485. This hairsetter has a smooth barrel all the way around, a similarly sized barrel and also the velvetey texture that the Xtreme Big Curls Hairsetter has.

Are these the same weight as the pink ones?

These two hot rollers are not the same weight. The Xtreme Big Curls hair setter rollers will be a little lighter in your hair than the pink More Big Curls Curlers.

Although there is no designated spot to keep the clips, once the unit is unplugged and cooled off, you can store the clips in-between or on top the curlers inside the unit.
