Comments about StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner:

I have oily skin and my pores clog easily and therefore I breakout easily. I used this in hopes of keeping my pores clear. I love how it smells and it feels good putting it on. It leaves a nice subtle shimmer that blurs pores. However, within a half hour, my skin has patches of dry flakiness, usually around my nose and chin. It takes a few days after application for the flakiness to go away. At first I thought it was just an initial reaction but I've been using it a few times a week for about 2 months and it's always the same. I won't be purchasing it again.

    • Q:

Can I use this with Potent Wrinkle Reducing Serum? Was concerned that the two products together would be too much. Thanks.

        A:

You can definitely pair the Potent Wrinkle Reducing Serum with the Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner. We recommend applying the serum the first and letting it absorb into the skin before applying the Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner.

        A:

Absolutely. Because it creates a matte finish and helps control oil and shine, that is a great way to use this product.

How do I use this product?
I have the Retinol day treatment spf 30 but I wasn't sure if you are able to use the products at the same time?

        A:

We generally recommend you select either the Pore Refiner or the Day Moisturizer for AM use. To use the Pore Refiner, apply as the last step of your skin care regimen prior to applying make up.

        A:

Ideally, you would choose either the Retinol Day Treatment SPF 30 because you need the broad spectrum protection or the Pore Refiner because you are concerned with enlarged pores. If you want to layer them, use the SPF 30 first, allow it to dry down completely then apply the Pore Refiner last before make up. This is so that you maximize the matifying effects of the Pore Refiner formula. You could also use the Day Treatment during the day and the Pore Refiner in the evening.

        A:

You can use both products in AM. You will want to apply the Advanced Retinol Day Moisturizer SPF 30, allow it to dry down completely then apply the Pore Refiner. While this seems counter to what you probably know about sunscreens, the reason for this is that the Pore Refiner has to be the last step prior to make up to maximize the matifying effect of the formula.

    • Q:

What is the concentration of retinol in this product?
      Asked on 9/2/2015 by Meghan

      • Brand Expert

        A:

While we use the maximum amount of retinol in our Advanced Retinol products as well as use the more stable form retinyl palmitate, the key differentiating factor for our product is the combination of NIA-114 plus Retinol. NIA-114 drives faster conversion of Retinol to retinoic acid so that your skin absorbs more of the retinol in the product and you see better results. Plus, due to the barrier building effects of NIA-114, irritating side effects are minimized.
