Comments about Beachwaver Co. Beachwaver S1 Curling Iron:

Love my Beachwaver. I have unevenly curly hair - really curly underneath and straighter crown. I can let my hair air dry and touch up with the Beachwaver for nice all-over waves.

Comments about Beachwaver Co. Beachwaver S1 Curling Iron:

This is a great tool for people who aren't skilled with a curling iron or wand, but there is still a learning curve. I wish this came with more directions than what is printed on the box - I can never seem to get the + and - buttons for the best setting to work and there's no instructions for it! I have thin medium length hair and this takes me 25 mins - I don't ever see how people say they can curl their own head in 15 mins with this. However, it does give nice results when you get the hang of it.

Comments about Beachwaver Co. Beachwaver S1 Curling Iron:

Wanted beach curls, got dried out frizzed hair with use. Hair got tangled up in the clip part as well and ripped out (not in chunks just strands). Do not recommend for thick hair, the little clip doesn't hold much hair and you will be curling for hours, you can achieve the same look with a Hot Tools manual 1" curling iron alot faster and it won't dry out your hair

                  • Q:

I recently had one of my hands/wrists amputated and was wondering if this is a two handed product. I use to curl my hair daily & always had to use two hands to wrap my hair around the curling iron as I held the iron with my other hand. Will this product work well with using only one hand to operate it?

                      A:

All of the Beachwavers can be used with just one hand! The Beachwaver will create easy, effortless curls with the touch of a button. You no longer need to wrap the hair around the barrel. We suggest keeping the Beachwaver S1 set to the slow speed until you feel more comfortable switching it to the fast speed. We also suggest also using the Darby Clips (Item #: 2300966) to keep the rest of your hair out of the way. This will help you focus on smaller sections of your hair to help create a beautiful beachwaved look!

Hold the Beachwaver S1 upright in front of you with the clamp facing inwards. Take a 1" section of hair and place the ends into the clamp. The amount of ends left out will determine which type of curl you're looking for. Once the hair is secured into the clamp, push the arrow button facing away from your face.

How does the Beachwaver S1 compare to the CHI ARC? I noticed both have rave reviews and similar price point. What are the pros & cons when comparing them to one another?

                      A:

Both tools feature adjustable heat settings, with the CHI ARC Automatic Rotating Curler's range being 180 degrees F (ideal for fine hair) to 410 degrees F (ideal for coarse, thick hair), and the Sarah Potempa Beachwaver S1's (Item #: 2260197) being 290-410 F. If you have ultra fine hair, the ARC is a better option for you, since you can adjust it to a low heat setting.

Both tools feature a ceramic barrel designed to help infuse hair with moisture and shine and to reduce frizz.

The ARC features a 1" barrel that is 6.5" long, while the S1 features a 1" barrel that is 5.5" long.

Both tools feature a digital temperature display.

The Beachwaver S1 features automatic shut-off. The iron will automatically shut down after 30 minutes of no use.

Both tools feature left-right buttons as well as a reset/home button, which will return the barrel to starting position.

The Beachwaver S1 features high-low speed settings.

We hope this extra info helps! We recommend reading the product ratings and reviews for both tools at Ulta.com! :-)

The S1 is even easier to use, since it features an arrow button and a fast/slow speed switch! It is especially ideal for newcomers to using hair styling tools, so we think it would be a great choice for you. It may take a little longer for you to fully style your hair as you learn how to use the tool, but with practice, you can absolutely get it down to 15 minutes or less!

Some key differences are that the Pro reaches a higher max temperature, ideal for coarse, thick hair types. The Pro also features a longer barrel, ideal for quicker styling of longer lengths.
