Comments about Real Techniques Bold Metals 301 Flat Contour Brush:

This brush was the worst. It took off my foundation as I tried to contour, then after one use the fibers began to fray, also this brush has no blending capability what so ever! Real techniques? More like fake mistakes!

Comments about Real Techniques Bold Metals 301 Flat Contour Brush:

I am a brush hoarder, I must have close to the 100 brushes, I adore the look of them, how wonderfully they work, and so forth. I just completed my Tom Ford brush collection, so the last thing I needed to do was to buy another brush, but the design of this brush, the elegance of the linear edges in rose gold really spoke to me, in addition to the practicality and kindness of the synthetic brushes. Many of the You Tube wonder girls use Real Techniques, so I was interested to see how these relatively inexpensive brushes gained such a huge, cult like following. First, the brush is weighted beautifully, it's substantial and the handle is a perfect length, very comfortable to use. The head is a nice, approximately 1.5 inch size, smaller than my Nars Ita brush, so it is much easier to contour my nose effectively. The bristles are firm enough to sculpt a face effectively, soft enough not to disturb your existing make up or irritate sensitive skin. It picks up with little pressure the perfect amount of product and applies and blends like I have the late Kevyn Aucoin helping me apply my make up! It is, by far the best contour brush in my collection, and I have brushes by Suuqu, Tom Ford, Hourglass, the list could go on. Synthetic, so it is a bit easier to clean and dry, and doesn't breed bacteria as fast as a natural brush, and importantly, cruelty free. I adore this brush, and think it is an absolute must have. Plus, it is a stunner to look at, it just makes me happy to see such great design at an affordable price. I can't recommend it enough.

I feel that since this is from the Bold Collection that I only need to use it when going out! I use this specifically when I do a cream contour. I feel that it blends and places the contour right where I want it. I like the heavy metal design and how the brush holds up. The bristles are very dense yet very soft. Plus it easy to clean.

                    Hi Ashley,

Thanks for your question. One of the things customers say they love most about our brushes is the fact that they barely, if ever, shed! We've developed several different unique ways of ensuring that the bristles stay where they should - on the brush, not on your face!

I've had several of my brushes going on 3 years now and most have never even shed one bristle. That's not to say that it *never* happens, but it's very rare, when it does.

                    Thanks!

                    Hi Rose,

                    Thanks for your questions!

This is one of my favorite brushes in all of our collections and it is perfect for blending creme contour to achieve that sculpted look. What this brush does for my cheekbones is nothing short of amazing!! :)

You also asked if it could be used to apply bronzer. I actually would point you to a different Bold Metals brush for bronzer. The Arched Powder is absolutely amazing at getting that sun-kissed look that a bronzer will give you. That brush can be found here: http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod11831007

With a bronzing brush, you will want something that has bristles which are a little less dense, since you want the product to appear lightly applied on your face. The Arched Powder brush bristles are full, but light & airy. They are also some of the softest bristles in any of our brushes!

                    Thanks!

                    Hi MJ,

The bristles on the Bold Metals brushes (as well as all the original Real Techniques bristles) are make from synthetic taklon fibers. Not only are they cruelty-free, but they are higher performing bristles than a lot of the natural ones that are out there on the market.

                    Thanks so much!

Hi. I wanted to know if the handle is actually plastic and just painted or if it is real metal? I have read reviews that has said over time of washing the handle turns black and doesn't keep it's rose gold coloring. I know it is weighted but is the handle actually made of plastic or metal? Please if someone knows will you respond and let me know? Thank you for your help.

                    A:

The weighted handles of the Bold Metals Collection brushes are metal coated and UV coated using an electroplated liquid process to ensure resistance to rust and wear. The ferrules are brass (this is the part of the brush that crimps the bristles), which is stronger for less shedding. We hope this extra info helps!
