How To Use

For Natural Coverage: Use the fluffy sponge and apply loose or pressed powder to moisturized skin.

For Medium Coverage: Use the firm liquid sponge with creamy foundation and "season" the sponge i.e. cover it with a full coat of foundation to cut absorption. Add another pump of foundation, sweep across face, and build to desired coverage with another pump. Set with powder using the fluffy sponge.

For Full Coverage: Use the fluffy sponge with creamy full coverage foundation then set with powder. See "getting started" guide for detailed instructions.

Makeup artist tip: Celebrity makeup artists love using the fluffy sponge with liquid foundation for superior coverage!

This works ok to spread makeup around without using fingers, however it doesn't get into corners & crevices that well, I think a foundation brush works better

I bought this last year at Ulta and love it! True, if you replace applicator as often as suggested, it gets expensive. I wash mine with antibacterial Dawn and hot water; it lasts a long time.

If you're like me and hate touching their face when putting on makeup because you break out, you will love this. You get perfect looking skin and without trying. I have used it on wrinkles and it worked wonderful on her. I tried it out on dry skin I learned to just use moisturiser before you use and you'll be fine. I tried it on some one who has pimples all over and for her it worked great just had to use a little more product to cover a little more. If you're thinking about trying I say go for it, I personally love mine and wouldn't want to go back. Only problem I have is regular priced this device is way too expensive for me.

Comments about Color Me Automatic Foundation Applicator Universal Starter Kit:

I used the product to apply liquid foundation, once with L'oreal Infallible and the other time with Becca Ultimate Coverage Cream. With both formulas it applied evenly and blended well, but provided much less coverage than I usually get using either my Real Techniques stippling brush or my IT Brushes Velvet Flawless Face Brush. The process also took about 5 full minutes, which is longer than I like to spend on foundation. Overall, the product was okay, but certainly not worth the money. I bought it half off and still returned it because it was not worth it. Especially considering the applicator tips need to be replaced every two weeks. I suppose this product would be good for someone looking for sheer to medium coverage, but I still think you would be better off buying a foundation brush from IT Brushes.

Comments about Color Me Automatic Foundation Applicator Universal Starter Kit:

I thought I would splurge a little to try this it sounded amazing, but you could only use the sponges for 7 applications I found out, you'd have to replace them a lot. It was slower to apply the make up because if you go to fast you tear the sponge. It wasn't a terrible product, just wish the sponge was a bit more durable and that you didn't have to replace it SO often, even though it says it's good for your skin.

I am going to be real honest here and thought this product was a total gimmick and thought it was something I would never buy. I went to a makeup show and saw the owner doing live demos, and it completely changed my opinion. I ended up buying one and absolutely love it. It really gives a flawless application that helps your foundation last all day. you can use powder, liquid foundation, BB and CC creams. It really is awesome. You def need to pick up extra brush heads.

The only real problem with this product is that we were not told we had to replace the foam heads every week. Surely they can be gently washed with soap or shampoo after every use? Otherwise this adds considerably to the cost of the unit, bad marketing I thought. Jennifer in London

You can extend the life of the sponge by patting with an alcohol or cleansing wipe; however, you should never pour liquid on the sponge or submerge it in water. This will help the sponge last longer. We hope this tip helps!

                    A:

Yes, you can! Because blush and contour formulas vary, we suggest testing a small amount of makeup first before doing the full application. The fluffy "powder" Color Me sponge is the recommended sponge for blush and contour applications.

While Color Me sponges are not intended for use with primer, you can use the fluffy sponge (the "powder sponge") to apply certain skincare products. Please be aware that depending on the active ingredients in your skincare products, they may cause the sponge to break down sooner - this will depend on the product you are using. For your liquid foundation, we also suggest trying the same fluffy sponge to apply your liquid if you are looking for full coverage over your primer.

The key is to make sure the sponge is in a horizontal position, not diagonal. Once the sponge is in position, wiggle it securely in place before using. A:

Yes, some users love using Color Me to apply their self tanner evenly. Remember to "season" the sponge the first time you are using it (cover the full sponge with a coat of foundation/self tanner, which is only necessary the first time you are using it), this will cut absorption and promote even application.

                • Q:

The video says use a dime sized amount but many of the reviewers are saying it needs to be completely covered with foundation. Either way, foundation can be expensive, doesn't this cut severely into the length of time between buying new foundation?

                  • Staff Expert

                    A:

When you are using a fresh sponge for the first time, you'll want to "season" the sponge, i.e. cover the full sponge with a coat of foundation. This cuts absorption. This is only necessary the very first time you are using a fresh sponge.

Once the sponge is seasoned, a dime-sized amount or a pump of foundation is sufficient for natural coverage and you can build from there for fuller coverage. TIP: For the most full coverage, use liquid foundation with the fluffy powder sponge!
