The dryer was not as hot as it should be. After 4 uses, it malfunctioned Could not turn it on again. I should have paid attention to the other low reviews. It's no wonder it is now on sale. Feels like it was made of plastic.

Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

I've wanted a second one of this model (1043) for years, since my first one still works perfectly and has always produced the best results of any dryer I've had -- and I worry it will give out sometime after the model is discontinued. I finally picked one up in-store last week and it looks, feels and sounds the same as my old one, but with a few minor changes in the writing on the dryer body.

The heat and speed setting buttons are all the same, too, but the new one did not heat the same at all. Actually, it had NO heat in "low" (so the same as the cool shot button), barely any heat in "medium" (only feels a little warm w/in 1 inch of barrel) and only had any significant heat (but not hot) on "high". I even test ran the new and old together and confirmed that only my old one delivered 4 evenly calibrated settings, including the non-heat cool shot.

I've seen some other reviews that make the same complaint. So, maybe they've changed the way this model heats, or maybe there are just some bad ones out there. I'm returning this one, but will try out a few more of the same model and see what I find.

I use this product every single day, I have traveled with my best friend she always uses my dryer cause likes how it leaves her very thick hair and the short time it takes to dry it, I recently purchased another dryer and I am giving it to my friend for Christmas. It's light weight and great for your suit case.

I loved this blow drier until I got ready for work this morning and the blower was dead. Had to go to work with wet hair and no styling. No warning it was going out. Just simply stopped after less than 3 years. My old, cheap blow dryer lasted at least 15 years. Very disappointed in the quality of life.

I would love this hair dryer, but when I have it on the hot setting, it starts out hot, then suddenly there is cool air blowing. I have to keep hitting the switch to make it get hot again. Very annoying!!!

I use this daily. My old dryer took me 20- 25 mins to dry my dry and would leave it dried out. The tourmaline drys my hair in less then 15 mins, most morning 10 mins and I don't need to use my straightener.

Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

I chose this dryer because I like it's matte black finish and was looking for tourmaline ionic as I've used dryers with and without in the past and feel it makes a big difference in leaving my hair smooth. I didn't pay much attention to the features claiming reduced drying time, the "cool shot" button, or the hair pik attachment...BUT after using this dryer for almost two years I can vouch this dryer lives up to all of its claims! I blow dry my hair damp after towel drying it first and I used to spend about 30 minutes drying my waist length hair, with this dryer I spend 10 minutes or less. I used to use a brush and the concentrator attachment to straighten my hair, I gave the pik attachment a shot and my hair routine has been changed, it works great for my wavy long hair! I tried the pik on my moms shoulder length curly hair and I wasnt blown away but if you have longish hair I certainly think you will like the pik attachment.

This dryer gets the job done quickly, is light weight and comfortable to hold and maneuver, is relatively quiet, comes with useful attachments and leaves my hair feeling smooth.

                        A:

This dryer does not have any ceramic material in it.

What having ceramic does in a dryer is generate far infrared heat that can be gentler on one's hair. However, the most important feature is that the dryer be ionic and generate negative ions that aid in the drying of the hair. A short time to dry one's hair means that there is less time that one's hair is having hot air blowing on it and essentially drying it out.

All Hot Tools Professional hair dryers contain an Ionic generator that will create this effect and keep the hair retaining its own natural moisture. The introduction of ion was a huge technological improvement in hair drying!

Concentrator - Concentrates airflow to smooth and straighten hair quickly and easily
Pik - Combs hair as you dry

Both attachments fit securely onto the nozzle of the dryer.
