Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

I chose this dryer because I like it's matte black finish and was looking for tourmaline ionic as I've used dryers with and without in the past and feel it makes a big difference in leaving my hair smooth. I didn't pay much attention to the features claiming reduced drying time, the "cool shot" button, or the hair pik attachment...BUT after using this dryer for almost two years I can vouch this dryer lives up to all of its claims! I blow dry my hair damp after towel drying it first and I used to spend about 30 minutes drying my waist length hair, with this dryer I spend 10 minutes or less. I used to use a brush and the concentrator attachment to straighten my hair, I gave the pik attachment a shot and my hair routine has been changed, it works great for my wavy long hair! I tried the pik on my moms shoulder length curly hair and I wasnt blown away but if you have longish hair I certainly think you will like the pik attachment.

This dryer gets the job done quickly, is light weight and comfortable to hold and maneuver, is relatively quiet, comes with useful attachments and leaves my hair feeling smooth.

Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

I took this back. I have curly hair and need to diffuse it. Unfortunately the lowest setting is still so high that it blows the hair through the diffuser. Very disappointing product. Loved their old one and have 5 of them however this company does not make replacement diffusers and because of their poor quality they start falling off after only a few uses.

Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

Purchased this after using CHI for 8 or so years - hair was getting fried with the high level of heat it produced. This Hot Tools Tourmaline Ionic dryer was a nice, less expensive alternative. It does not produce the level of heat that the CHI did so it does take longer to dry my hair -- about 50% longer, not double, so it's O.K. for me. Definitely gentler on my hair. The accessories are a real plus and do help.

Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

This dryer is just as good as the most expensive dryer. I had a Chi and it was over $100 and only lasted me about 4 months before it became defective. Unfortunately I had thrown away the box and receipts because I thought a Chi was good for a number of years, wrong!!!! Big disappointment there.

Heard about this Hot Tools, purchased it and this dryer is just as good as the Chi, maybe even better and it has great reviews. Cannot go wrong with this one.

                  Is it ceramic too?

                    A:

This dryer does not have any ceramic material in it.

What having ceramic does in a dryer is generate far infrared heat that can be gentler on one's hair. However, the most important feature is that the dryer be ionic and generate negative ions that aid in the drying of the hair. A short time to dry one's hair means that there is less time that one's hair is having hot air blowing on it and essentially drying it out.

All Hot Tools Professional hair dryers contain an Ionic generator that will create this effect and keep the hair retaining its own natural moisture. The introduction of ion was a huge technological improvement in hair drying!

Concentrator - Concentrates airflow to smooth and straighten hair quickly and easily
Pik - Combs hair as you dry

Both attachments fit securely onto the nozzle of the dryer.
