Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

This is the first time I've owned a tourmaline ionic hairdryer and the first Hot Tools brand and I really like it. I had originally purchased a less expensive Conair and it was far too heavy to maneuver so I returned it. After speaking with the salesperson at Ulta (who happened to be a hairstylist), she said she used the Hot Tools brand with her clients and highly recommended it. I thought it was 2,000 watts because of the description but come to find out, it's only 1600 watts. The Conair was 1,875 so I was nervous it wouldn't be enough power to dry my thicker hair quickly but that's no problem. I like that it 3 different heat settings, is light, quiet, and had a neat comb attachment that works surprisingly well to straighten hair. It certainly wouldn't replace a hair straightener but still does a nice job. Overall, it was more than I would normally spend on a hairdryer but worth the extra money and it was less expensive than the real high end models. I would recommend this product.

Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

I purchased this dryer to replace the T3. The Ulta associate assisted me in picking out this Hot Tools dryer as she uses it personally.
It is light weight. I have long hair. On high speed I felt there was not enough air coming out. The attachment nozzle was too narrow plus it doesn't turn easily on the dryer to point in another direction.
I kept wondering where the heat was and realized due to how I hold the dryer, I was constantly pressing on the cool shot button. Needless to say this double my hair drying time.

                • Q:

What is the difference between ceramic and ionic drying . What is better, does it depend on hair type? I'm looking for a dryer with good heat but not so much air flow. It seems I find the opposite. They blow my hair too hard and I can't get it into the brush without tangling but they don't get hot enough to make my wavey hair curl and stay curled or even give it a nice bend it just gets blown stright and flat even on the lower air setting. What wattage should I buy? FYI I love a retractable cord.

                    A:

You won't find a retractable cord in a Professional dryer, but there are ones with that at Ulta. Wattage is not an indicator of power. It really will indicate how quickly the dryer heats up, how loud it will be, and lastly how much energy it uses. The best indicator is trying a dryer out in an Ulta Beauty store on the plug and play wall.
The Tourmaline Ionic Dryer is Hot Tools' bestselling and one of their best performing dryers because it has two sources of negative ions which help dry the hair faster. One from an ion generator and the other when the tourmaline inside the dryer heats up. Ceramic dryers just mean that the air is passing through a ceramic grill before it gets to the hair, so it's a gentler way of imparting heat.
If you want your hair to continue to be wavy after you blow dry, then consider using a dryer with a diffuser. Set on high heat, low speed and you'll get the look you're seeking. Hope this helps! :-)

This professional dryer weighs 15 oz., which is less than one pound and qualifies the dryer as lightweight. It does come with the "comb" or "pik" (as the 2.5" spikes are called) that you can use as an attachment for additional styling options. We hope this info helps! :-)
