Cheap feeling curlers

By Cindy

from Utah

Comments about Conair More Big Curls Hairsetter:

I have frizzy hair that I bought these to straighten and smooth. I have been using the old Remington set of 10 rollers, of which 5 were 1". I wanted bigger curlers that would not leave me with the ugly waves and super tight curls. I tried this Conair set and have to say, the cheap plastic on the ends gets very very hot. I was trying to hurry and get them in my hair, but they were almost too hot to handle. Very cheap and light feeling. Other than that, they did leave my hair mostly straight, but with less frizz. I had wondered if I would like 2" curlers better, but with my hair left so straight with these, I am thinking that the 2" curlers might leave me with ends that aren't even curled under. I'm wondering if I would rather dry my hair to being barely damp..then roll them in self-grip curlers and then put a bonnet dryer on my head. I think I would get softer curls. These curlers just left me with hair that feels hard...mostly due to the excessive heat of the curlers I think. Fried, in other words.

The instructions say "ready to use when red light turns clear" and that it would take about 15 minutes. Mine was plugged in for about an hour heating up & the red light never turned off. After waiting for an hour for these to heat up, i tried to use them. When i took them out my hair looked good - for 2 minutes. After about two minutes my hair completely fell. I took them back the next day

Comments about Conair More Big Curls Hairsetter:

First of all, I was really nervous about using these rollers. I must have read a million reviews on all different kinds of rollers and was worried if I had made the right decision or not. The only experience I had with hot rollers was back in the 80's with my mom's hot rollers. They were slippery plastic, extremely hot, impossible to put in, and impossible to stay in. Since that experience over 20 years ago I swore I would never try those again, and I used the Caruso Steaming hot rollers. The thing I really disliked about those rollers was that the clamp that you had to put over the culler always left a massive crimp right at the root, AND I could never seem to get any lift at the root. It's like the curler squashed my hair DOWN at the roots. But,one of my best friends SWORE by normal hot rollers, so I would give them a try again. These rollers did not burn my fingers (which the steaming ones can a little), they were *simple* to put in (even with my hair straightened,) they did not slip out, and the produced an AMAZING look! Gorgeous, shiny, natural, soft bodied curls. It is EVERYTHING I was hoping for. And 12 rollers is perfect. Honestly, the rollers are so big, you couldn't fit more than that on your head. OH! And I had total anxiety over the metal little pin/clip to fasten the roller. So many reviews from all different curling sets people would complain about the wire clip and act like it was the end of the world (which it was with my mom's old set!) But the clip went in easy, stayed in place, and did't leave any crimps. It produced flawless curls. I can't attest to anyone else's experience, but I can't imagine why anyone would ever give these rollers a bad review (not that there are many!)

Very well designed. The longer curler clips hold the curlers in my hair without having to use claw clips. I like the flat top of the cover and the color design also.

I have med. length hair and I do't use products in my hair. I tried this, the curls in the front were ok, but the back of my hair did not take at all. Also, don't use the provided pins close to your ears, they get super hot.

Comments about Conair More Big Curls Hairsetter:

I have been wanting to upgrade from the old fashion of just plain rollers that aren't hot. So I was debating whethere to get a curling iron or hot rollers. I decided to get hot rollers because I was a bit scared of getting a curling iron.

                    On to the review.
I didn't know which one to get so the lady at Ulta told me she used this product and for my long and thick hair, to get TWO boxes. Trust me you will need 2 if you're like me. The light thats supposed to change didn't change on either of my products. So I just waited about 30 minutes for them to warm up. It does give a funky smell when its heating up. I did add the water it tells you to. Overall very easy to use. The only CON is that its hot, obviously, not to the point of where you'll get burned but it will bother you. So i would probably recommend buying a glove that is used when curling your hair. I really did like the way it curled my hair, it was more bouncy, fuller and lasted longer. Be sure to buy heat protection and I added spray when the hot rollers were in and after.

                        How To Operate Your Hairsetter:
                        1. Place hairsetter on a firm, flat surface. With the lid closed, plug cord into outlet. This appliance
has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety feature, this plug
will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse
the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to defeat this
                        safety feature.
                        2. Once plugged in, the red light will go on. The rollers are ready to use when the red dot turns
transparent white (approximately 10–15 minutes). The rollers have each reached optimum
temperature and you can begin styling your hair. Please refer to “How to Curl Your Hair” for
                        further instruction.
                        3. Allow rollers to heat with lid closed, as this will provide the fastest, most efficient heat-up.
Once the rollers are hot, you can begin setting your hair. Allow rollers to heat longer for
tighter curls. Never leave your hairsetter on and unattended. Always unplug the hairsetter
when not in use. Allow the hairsetter to cool down after use, and store in a safe place.
                        4. Hair should be clean and dry or slightly damp – never wet when setting.

                        How To Curl Your Hair:
                        1. Place ends of hair on roller and wind toward the scalp. Roll up hair firmly, and secure clip,
crossing over roller. Do not place clip in roller slit.
                        2. The firmness of the curl is regulated by the temperature and the length of time the roller is
                        left in your hair.
                        3. For tight, firm curls, leave rollers in the hair for at least ten minutes before removing. For
soft, wavy curls, the rollers should be removed from the hair after a shorter period of time.
                        4. To remove roller hold roller in one hand while removing clip with the other. Gently drop roller (do not pull) and let curl bounce back after roller has been completely removed. Let cool for one minute for a firmly set curl, and then style your hair into a look that lasts for hours.
