A feather-light lotion containing microsponges to absorb oil on the skin's surface, helping to combat shine and maintain an all-day matte finish. Niacinamide, Zinc Gluconate, Yeast Extract, Caffeine and Biotin purify and inhibit overactive sebaceous gland activity while soothing irritation. Salicylic Acid clears congested follicles to minimize future breakout activity, while Enantia Chlorantha Bark Extract controls over-active oil glands, helping to reduce oily shine on skin's surface. Naturally-antiseptic Camphor, Balm Mint and Cornflower cool and calm inflammation. Contains no artificial fragrance or color.

Hw it works:

  • Microsponges absorb excess oil and eliminate shine while providing an all-day matte finish.
  • Salicylic Acid aids in exfoliation of dead surface cells to help keep follicles clear of congestion.
  • Enantia Chlorantha Bark Extract helps regulate sebum to reduce oily surface shine.
  • Niacinamide, Yeast Extract, Horse Chestnut, Licorice, Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5) and Caffeine regulate sebum production and soothe inflammation.
  • Zinc Gluconate regulates overactive sebaceous glands. Hyssopus, a plant anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory, helps prevent future breakouts.

We recommend that first-time Dermalogica users visit an authorized skin treatment professional for a client consultation in an ULTA store.

Comments about Dermalogica Oil Control Lotion:

This product is amazing. I have had acne and oily skin for nearly 17 years. I am almost 30 now. I have been on accutane twice and it definitely cleared up my skin, but as soon as I went off of it, my face became so oily!! It was awful. I have been revisiting my dermatologist and wanted to go back on the medicine so bad (however, it is heavily regulated, includes extensive steps to obtain it each month, and isn't solely for oily skin). He recognized I just didn't have good genes for oil and acne. Such is life right? I went and obtain extensive topicals that made my face flake SO BAD and yet the skin was so oily. I just resorts to constantly using those oil absorbent sheets about five to six times a day and just got used to reapplying makeup two to three times a day. I went in Ulta the other day for anti aging (which I also bough Dermalogica), but I also gave their oily skin set a try. I LOVE THIS LOTION. IT CHANGED EVERYTHING. I am nowhere near as oily. I don't use the sheets anymore nor have to reapply makeup. This changed my life. I will definitely get this product again and again. Give it a try!

Comments about Dermalogica Oil Control Lotion:

I started using Dermalogica a few months ago and I love it!! I have been struggling with acne for the last 10+ years! Never had it as a teen, but it kicked into high gear as an adult, getting worse over this last summer. I had a consult with a skin therapist at Ulta and have been going to her every 3 weeks. After purchasing the Medibac Kit I knew that this would be a solution for me. I love the oil control lotion! It is lightweight, non-greasy, and helps control my oil. Also, it barely has a smell and once it's absorbed I can't smell it at all. HUGE deal for me as I am very sensitive to smells. A tad pricey, but a little goes a long way!! I would recommend this lotion to anyone with is suffering with problem areas and also are a bit oily. In the dry winter months I may need something a little bit more moisturizing, so I purchased the Active Moist. If you are thinking about trying this line (and feel frustrated bc you feel like you've tried everything to no avail) I say go for it!!!

Comments about Dermalogica Oil Control Lotion:

LOVE this moisturizer. With just a little bit (1%) of salicyclic acid, it fights off blemishes without being too rough on my sensitive skin. My skin stays oil-free longer (though not all day) and it's super lightweight and one bottle lasts for a long time. I only use this in the morning and use a heavier moisturizer at night, but I think you could use it morning and night.

Hi there I just purchased the medi bac kit and a small package of the oil control lotion was inside to sample. can I layer this on top of the mattifier or is it best to use them separately? Will this product provide lightweight moisture as well? Thanks so much!

Thank you for your inquiry. These products work best together. Apply a thin layer of Clearing Mattifier and a thin layer of Oil Control Lotion on top. Oil Control Moisture is a light weight, oil absorbing moisturizer. It will add light hydration while controlling shine.

                    • Q:

My question is similar to a previous question, but I'm asking anyway...is it necessary to use this product with the Clearing Mattifier in order to see true results or can it be used alone? My skin is incredibly oily, prone to breakouts, and I have an issue with blackheads and enlarged pores on my nose. On top of that, I'm a veterinary student on a budget and I live in an incredibly humid area. I would love to cut down on the oiliness of my skin, but I'm not sure which product would be best?

Thank you for your inquiry. It is not mandatory that these products be used together however, for enlarged pores and wanting to reduce oil production it is recommended that you apply a very thin layer or Clearing Mattifier under Oil Control Lotion. Clearing Mattifier is a treatment product that will actually regilaute oil production. You may also do touch ups with Clearing Mattifier throughout the day.

I have very oily skin and I wash my face at night with Cetaphil oil control foam wash. After that I apply a prescribed acne medication called Ziana. In the morning, I don't apply the medicine, and I need something to keep my face matte. Will I need this oil control lotion paired with the clearing mattifier to keep my face matte? Or can I buy just one of the two, as I'm on a budget.

                        Hello Jas,

Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend starting with Oil Free Matte SPF 30 for daytime if you can only afford one product. Clearing Mattifer will help to control oil production however, this can be added later. It is also important to exfoliate and use Sebum Clearing Masque regularly.

Thank you for your inquiry. The only oil controlling product we have that does not contain salicylic acid is Oil Free Matte SPF30. This is a daytime moisturizer that has microsponges to soak up excess oil and sun protection. This product can be used everyday to minimize shine with light hydration.

These products should be layered. Clearing Mattifier is a targeted treatment that absorbs and slows down oil production. It is applied in the morning in a thin layer directly on to clean skin and then layered with Oil Control Lotion. Oil Control Lotion is a moisturizer that has microsponges in it to absorb oil while hydrating an oily skin and can be used morning and night. For excess oil it is important to use a clay based masque like Sebum Clearing Masque 2-3 times a week. We hope this helps!
