Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

Nice hair dryer but it takes longer to dry my hair then my old Conair dryer even though this one has more wattage. It doesn't seen to get as hot as my Conair dryer. Settings are hot, medium, and cool and only low and high for the speed settings. Nice sleek design and fairly light weight.

Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

nice dryer, not too heavy, sleek shape, dries hair quickly - straight & smooth, affordable with tourmaline, BUT....my second one just died after only 2-3 years. Same with the first one I had - thought it was a fluke so I replaced it with the same dryer ... I was wrong. I now regret giving away my classic Conair (off white with the red & blue buttons) - 20 years old and still worked!!! and it cost well under $100.

I really hate to blow-dry my hair but with this dryer at least it's fast. I have shoulder length thick hair that is semi curly. This dryer straighten it without too much effort and it de-frizzed it. It's pretty light weight too.

After using this for about 6 months it started making weird noises. Never really did much for my hair and took a long time to dry. Just bought the babyliss pro 2000 and it works wonders compared too this one. Would not but hot tools again!

            • Q:

What is the difference between ceramic and ionic drying . What is better, does it depend on hair type? I'm looking for a dryer with good heat but not so much air flow. It seems I find the opposite. They blow my hair too hard and I can't get it into the brush without tangling but they don't get hot enough to make my wavey hair curl and stay curled or even give it a nice bend it just gets blown stright and flat even on the lower air setting. What wattage should I buy? FYI I love a retractable cord.

                A:

You won't find a retractable cord in a Professional dryer, but there are ones with that at Ulta. Wattage is not an indicator of power. It really will indicate how quickly the dryer heats up, how loud it will be, and lastly how much energy it uses. The best indicator is trying a dryer out in an Ulta Beauty store on the plug and play wall.
The Tourmaline Ionic Dryer is Hot Tools' bestselling and one of their best performing dryers because it has two sources of negative ions which help dry the hair faster. One from an ion generator and the other when the tourmaline inside the dryer heats up. Ceramic dryers just mean that the air is passing through a ceramic grill before it gets to the hair, so it's a gentler way of imparting heat.
If you want your hair to continue to be wavy after you blow dry, then consider using a dryer with a diffuser. Set on high heat, low speed and you'll get the look you're seeking. Hope this helps! :-)

Whenever I go to the salon my hair looks so soft and silky after, but after I blow dry my hair my hair has a weird texture, is frizzy and is poofy. Would this hair dryer help me? Any other suggestions? My hair is short thick a little wavy and has a little coarser texture.

Turn it slightly and it comes off. Put it back by putting it back and turning a quarter turn.

I have a rotor cuff problem and currently have the Tourmaline blow dryer - lite....with the attachment that has "2.5" spikes" to blow dry my hair from the roots forward....is this blow dryer your "lite" rather than the regular heavy ones that makes it hard to hold up for any length of time...and does it come with the 2.5 spike attachment??

This professional dryer weighs 15 oz., which is less than one pound and qualifies the dryer as lightweight. It does come with the "comb" or "pik" (as the 2.5" spikes are called) that you can use as an attachment for additional styling options. We hope this info helps! :-)
