Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

This hairdryer is light weight, dries hair evenly and quickly. It comes with three attachments not two as shown in the description; concentrator, pik and DIFFUSER (hard to come by these days)! This dryer is quiet. It's a 1600 watt dryer not 1875 and could be why some are complaining about drying time. However, high heat is not necessarily a good thing. It's definitely worth the price and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality, mid priced dryer.

I have frizzy hair and thin strands. It would be better to have a medium flow so have time to make adjustments. Almost dries too quickly on high setting and too slow in low setting. Good unit for different hair.

Being light weight was great since having thick long hair it takes forever to dry. I had this dryer for 2 weeks and noticed the top of handle was getting hot and using the diffuser took awhile to dry my hair and then it just quit blowing hot. Was very disappointed will not buy this brand again

The price tag on this can deter you but TRUST ME if you buy it and get this baby home; within one use you'll never go back. It's SO LIGHT!!! Which was a big plus since I have long, thick hair and would get tired from the weight. It's super quiet, dries my hair FAST, and comes with all the attachments you could ever want. The only negative is I find the cold shot could be colder but in the scheme of things the positives drastically outweigh the negatives!!!!

Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

Bought this about a week ago in store, it was on sale & I'd been wanting a blow dryer so I could let my natural curls out. This is perfect for me. I have a lot of really fine hair, it usually gets frizzy, but no problem with this one.
I could see someone with thick hair maybe having a problem getting their hair all the way dry, but I don't use it on the high setting.

                    • Q:

What is the difference between ceramic and ionic drying . What is better, does it depend on hair type? I'm looking for a dryer with good heat but not so much air flow. It seems I find the opposite. They blow my hair too hard and I can't get it into the brush without tangling but they don't get hot enough to make my wavey hair curl and stay curled or even give it a nice bend it just gets blown stright and flat even on the lower air setting. What wattage should I buy? FYI I love a retractable cord.

                      • Staff Expert

                        A:

You won't find a retractable cord in a Professional dryer, but there are ones with that at Ulta. Wattage is not an indicator of power. It really will indicate how quickly the dryer heats up, how loud it will be, and lastly how much energy it uses. The best indicator is trying a dryer out in an Ulta Beauty store on the plug and play wall.
The Tourmaline Ionic Dryer is Hot Tools' bestselling and one of their best performing dryers because it has two sources of negative ions which help dry the hair faster. One from an ion generator and the other when the tourmaline inside the dryer heats up. Ceramic dryers just mean that the air is passing through a ceramic grill before it gets to the hair, so it's a gentler way of imparting heat.
If you want your hair to continue to be wavy after you blow dry, then consider using a dryer with a diffuser. Set on high heat, low speed and you'll get the look you're seeking. Hope this helps! :-)
