Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

I have extremely curly hair that winds in tight ringlets and I wanted something to help dry it without producing frizz. I use the diffuser setting after putting product in my hair and it helps to preserve the integrity of the curl without creating frizz and with the different heat settings I keep the damage to a minimum.

My boyfriend bought this for me for my birthday last year & it is hands down the BEST hot tools blow dryer I've ever used < 3 I have thick coarse curly hair and it dries my hair in less than 30 minutes after parting it. Every time I use it the results are salon-like!

Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

Had this dryer about a year and now it's really loud and doesn't heat properly. I'm not pleased for the amount I spent. Also, I have an old wally world carried blow dryer from 8 years ago, still running strong while this "professional" dryer just whacked out on me.

Comments about Hot Tools Tourmaline IONIC Professional Dryer:

This hair dryer doesn't work well at all! It initially blows out warm air for 2-3 minutes, but then, it randomly blows out cold air instead. Then, it eventually goes back to blowing warm air again! It would take forever for my hair to dry under these conditions! I'm very disappointed in it! My last hair dryer was Hot Tools, and i loved it, but this one is going back to the store! I do NOT recommend this one!

                    • Q:

I bought one of these a couple years ago and love it, but have broken a few fingers off the diffuser so was going to purchase another. BUT it now appears not to include the diffuser! Does Hot Tools sell a replacement diffuser for this dryer? It bites that suddenly you have to buy a diffuser separately, but us Curly Girls are apparently out of fashion again....grrr

                      Thanks!

                    • Q:

What is the difference between ceramic and ionic drying . What is better, does it depend on hair type? I'm looking for a dryer with good heat but not so much air flow. It seems I find the opposite. They blow my hair too hard and I can't get it into the brush without tangling but they don't get hot enough to make my wavey hair curl and stay curled or even give it a nice bend it just gets blown stright and flat even on the lower air setting. What wattage should I buy? FYI I love a retractable cord.

                        A:

You won't find a retractable cord in a Professional dryer, but there are ones with that at Ulta. Wattage is not an indicator of power. It really will indicate how quickly the dryer heats up, how loud it will be, and lastly how much energy it uses. The best indicator is trying a dryer out in an Ulta Beauty store on the plug and play wall.
The Tourmaline Ionic Dryer is Hot Tools' bestselling and one of their best performing dryers because it has two sources of negative ions which help dry the hair faster. One from an ion generator and the other when the tourmaline inside the dryer heats up. Ceramic dryers just mean that the air is passing through a ceramic grill before it gets to the hair, so it's a gentler way of imparting heat.
If you want your hair to continue to be wavy after you blow dry, then consider using a dryer with a diffuser. Set on high heat, low speed and you'll get the look you're seeking. Hope this helps! :-)
