The Body Shop difference: Tea Tree Oil can be used in many different ways to help soothe blemished skin. Dab pre-blended oil directly onto skin at first sign of a blemish. Apply a small amount directly onto blemishes using a clean cotton wool bud or your fingertip. For bathing, add six drops into the bath once it has run, and disperse with your hand, for an aromatic and soothing soak.

I mixed 8 drops with 1 cup water and 1 cup apple cider vinegar. Every night after I wash my face, I rub this mixture on my skin with a cotton pad. I've been using it for about 5 days and I've already noticed a difference! My acne spots started to disappear. I'm hoping it reduces my acne scars.

Comments about The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil:

I have been using this with the Himalayan Charcoal Mask and it has been doing its job. I wish it were a TINY bit more effective with stopping pimples before they start (as a spot treatment type of method) but I think it does stop them from getting HUGE and red so that's that. Hasn't irritated my sensitive skin (although I do have two new pimples but I think they were going to rear their heads anyway. Sigh). The smell is interesting. Reminds me of Pine-Sol for some reason (original scent). Doesn't smell bad though. Pretty easy to use.

Comments about The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil:

I've had clear skin all my life up until I turned 16 in 2016. I began to have acne on my cheeks in April 2016 and it really affected my self-esteem since then. I think the cause of my acne is clogged pores from not removing foundation from my skin properly. I used to dab some foundation on my cheeks to cover up scars that I got from picking a pimple that popped up occasionally. I would only use my regular facial wash to clean that make up off my face (stupid, I know). Either that, or it could be due to puberty that I developed acne. I tried a few products like Oxy and didn't see much of a difference. Eventually, I decided to start using Body Shop's Tea Tree range and it has helped my skin improve! I use the Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash, followed by the Tea Tree Mattifying Toner. I go an additional step at night and dab the tea tree oil on my problem areas as well. I find that using my fingers to apply it is much better for my skin, as using a cotton bud irritated my acne. I don't know if it's just me but the scars on my chin from picking on pimples have also lightened from using this. The tea tree oil did dry out my skin but it was clearing up my blemishes so I don't mind. I did not use any moisturizer on my skin. I actually just finished using the 10ml bottle last night, I bought it about 2 weeks ago so that's pretty fast but it's because I do use quite a lot of it but I am going to purchase another bottle again!

I thought I'd try it out cause there's so many good reviews on it but it did nothing for me. I've been using it for a month now and if anything my face looks like it just got worse, honestly. I also used the tea tree toner and that did nothing as well.

                A:

Thank you for contacting The Body Shop. Tea Tree Oil is recommended for usage of pimples, breakouts and blemishes. Typically, these are caused by excess oil in the skin. Tea Tree Oil is not recommended for usage in the eye area, and hasn't been tested for efficacy in treating milia.

If I have oily acne prone skin can I still use this and not break out? I tend to stay away from the word "oil". So I want to know if I can use this while having oily skin
Asked on 1/11/2017 by Onyeka from Baltimore, MD

              1 answer

              • Brand Expert

                A:

Thank you for contacting The Body Shop. Tea Tree Oil is a lightweight, targeted treatment that can be applied directly onto blemishes. Tea Tree Oil is not a facial oil that should be applied all over the face. However, did you know that facial oils can be very beneficial for oily skin? Facial oils can actually help balance oily skin. In any case, we recommend using Tea Tree immediately at the onset of breakouts and blemishes.

Thank you for contacting The Body Shop. Tea Tree Oil should be applied directly to blemishes, or breakouts at their onset. It is very effective for clearing up problem spots, and fighting breakouts. It is one of our best-selling products, and can be used by any skin type.

Thank you for contacting The Body Shop. Tea Tree Oil helps to fight breakouts. I'm not sure if you're referring to acne scarring or pimples. Tea Tree Oil reduces existing pimples and helps prevent future ones - it does not reduce the appearance of acne scars.
