HOW OJONŽ WAS "DISCOVERED"
Ten years ago, Ojon founder, Denis Simioni was visited by a family member from Honduras who brought him a small baby food jar filled with a mysterious brown paste...
The jar sat on a shelf for two years until one day curiosity took over and he decided to try it. The instant and incredible results only made him want to know more. This outcome, combined with Denis' background in the beauty industry as an ad executive, compelled him to go on an expedition to discover all he could about the rare oil.
His journey took him to the remote tropical rainforests in Central America in search of the Miskito Indians. Here Denis crossed paths with MOPAWI, a local non-profit organization committed to promoting sustainable development in the native Miskito.
MOPAWI led Denis to the Tawira - which translates into their native language as "the people of beautiful hair".
Over the next few years a relationship between Denis, MOPAWI and the Miskito tribe grew. Denis began experimenting with different consistencies and formulations of the sacred oil. In co-operation with MOPAWI, Denis and many Tawira families formed a partnership to achieve their united goals.
Ojon Corporation obtained exclusive worldwide distribution rights for Ojon oil. In return, Ojon ensures it maintains MOPAWI's sustainable development methods and provides a steady source of income for the Tawira Indian tribes that harvest and process the oil. This helps preserve their traditional lifestyle and the region's rainforests. Ojon oil is still harvested and extracted by hand the same way it has been for over 500 years.
