It all began when brothers Dean and Davis Factor—two unique entrepreneurs and great-grandsons of makeup legend Max Factor—created Smashbox Studios in 1990. With a slew of A-listers passing through the photo studios daily, Dean and Davis were often asked to develop makeup that met the demanding needs of a shoot. So the two combined talents—Dean, a business guru with an MBA, and Davis, a leading celebrity/fashion photographer—to launch Smashbox Cosmetics in 1996.

In the years that followed, our expertise in photography, fashion and beauty turned Smashbox into a hub of culture. Our studios have served as the official home to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in L.A., and high-profile film and music events continue to be held here.

Today, our state-of the-art facility is still inundated with the most sought-after photographers, celebs models and makeup artists. This means we’re always swapping insider tips, tricks and trends directly with the pros. Best of all? We share. We believe knowledge truly is a beautiful thing, and ours is just too good to keep to ourselves. From demystifying application to finding quick fixes, we’re inspired everyday to create innovative products for everyone, everywhere.

DEAN FACTOR - CEO & Co-founder, Smashbox Enterprises
Dean oversees all business matters for Smashbox Enterprises. He acquired his expertise while studying at American University and the University of Southern California, where he received his MBA. In 1991 he and his brother Davis combined their talents to create Smashbox Photo Studios, and then founded Smashbox Cosmetics in 1996. Dean acts as Chairman of the Board and CEO of Smashbox Enterprises, sits on the Board of Directors for Covenant House of California, and is Treasurer of the Young Presidents Organization Malibu Chapter. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Shannon, and their two children, Claire and Alexander.

DAVIS FACTOR - CCO & Co-founder, Smashbox Enterprises
As one of the world's top celebrity and fashion photographers, Davis travels across the globe on photo shoots, spotting trends in fashion and beauty. He has photographed countless famous faces including Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Charlize Theron, and many more. Davis has shot for numerous fashion and beauty magazines such as Italian Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harper's Bazaar, Allure, Esquire, and Marie Claire. In addition to his full-time photography career, he is the Chief Creative Officer of Smashbox Cosmetics.
