This brush is perfect for applying setting powder under the eyes and on eyelids. I also use it for applying powder highlighters to my cheekbones. It doesn't shed bristles. After cleaning it, it looked brand new again and felt so so soft on my skin. Real Techniques is my favorite brand of brushes!

Comments about Real Techniques Setting Brush:

Oh my was I disappointed. It's rough and not densely packed. I've never used a brush as rough as this ever, and I use tons of cheap brushes. So, that's saying a lot. The bristles are nothing like I expect from an undereye setting powder brush. I should return it bc I don't plan on using it again....it's that bad.

                  • Q:

Can I use this as a contour brush?
I have the sculpting brush but its too big and makes my contour look gross.
I want the contour brush from real techniques but they only sell it in a set and I don't want the full set. So this is the next brush I saw that looks similar to that one.

                      HI celine,

If you are looking for a smaller brush head, this will definitely do it. In terms of contouring, the Setting Brush does not have the angle that some people like in terms of getting into the hollows of the cheekbones, but if you blend and apply precisely, you should be able to create a well-defined look with this.

                      Thanks!

                      A:

                      Hi T,

Thanks for your question. I love the Setting brush for a lot of things: concealer, highlighter, blending out contour lines; however, I would probably recommend a different brush for bronzer.

Because you want to create a more natural, sun-kissed look, I tend to think that larger brush heads covering a bigger area is the way to go. I love our Bold Metals Powder Brush for a bronzer and use mine every day (http://www.ulta.com/bold-metals-100-arched-powder-brush?productId=xlsImpprod11831007).

I would also recommend our Real Techniques brush for a bronzer brush as well (http://www.ulta.com/powder-brush?productId=xlsImpprod3220077). Definitely something with a lot of bristles that are "fluffier" and less concentrated for bronzer.

                      Thanks! Hope that helps!

                      Hi Yarely,

Great question! This is one of our most multi-functional brushes and I, personally, don't know how I lived without it for all these years! :)

One of the best uses for this brush is to apply highlighter when you are going for a highlight/contour look. Because of the way the bristles are cut, it doesn't pick up too much product overall. Additionally, because the bristles are synthetic (cruelty-free), it doesn't have the porous nature that real hair bristles do and you will find more product on your face, rather than staying in your brush.

Overall, I think you would be really happy with this brush used for highlighting.

                      Thanks!

I was wondering whether the "sculpting brush" or this brush (setting brush) would work best to contour my nose, as well as blend? What would you recommend for contouring the nose with bronzer?

                      Hi Beauty Love,

That is such a great question! I had to stop and think for a moment because I love BOTH of those brushes so much! The Sculpting Brush is going to be much better for the larger areas of your face (cheeks, forehead, chin) where you want that contoured look. But, I think you will want a smaller brush head for contouring your nose and you will probably see better, more precise results with the Setting Brush.

One other brush you might want to consider for contouring your nose is the Foundation Brush. It has angled bristles (like the Sculpting Brush), but is not quite as large. I think you would be happy with either the Setting of the Foundation brush - and please let us know how it works for you!!

It is a bit too large to use for eyeshadow. It works best for a controlled dusting of setting powder or highlighter.
