Comments about SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Hydrating Mud Mask:

I bought this on a recommendation from a friend and because I had used other products from this brand before.

When I put the mask on, it tingled a bit, which is pretty normal. I sat down to read while I waited to wash it off. Gradually, my face began to burn and so did my eyes. My eyes were watering and stinging so much that o couldn't see. I washed the mask off and my face was red and irritated. My eyes were bloodshot and continued watering for over an hour.

Once the redness faded, there was no significant difference in my skin, so it wasn't even worth it.

First time in a very long time tried a mask and it was an almost instant burning sensation. I looked up the reviews and its a very common experience and not a good one apparently. So much for a calming bath :/

I had heard such great things about the Shea Moisture haircare line that I figured I'd give this mask a go. Oh my goodness. So much burning. I have used other mud masks in the past, but none of left my tingling and irritated like this one has. :(

I use other products from this line and was very excited to find this mud mask. It has minimal ingredients and most are natural based. The texture seemed great and cooling. I put it on and 0.4 seconds later it started burning so bad I couldn't stand it!! I tried so hard to leave it on but I couldn't take it. I had to rinse and wash my face. It left my face bright red. I want to like it but no product should be that painful!

I found this at the local drugstore and I thought I'd give it a try since I have really dry skin! I wish I would have read the reviews! I left this mask on for 3 minutes and couldn't take it any longer!!! When I went to rinse it off with warm water I felt like my face was melting off! It burned so bad it brought tears to my eyes! I will NEVER use this product again!!!!!!!!

I love the Shea Moisture hair products, but this is the second face mask I've tried (the first being the sensitive skin mask in the pink pouch) that has burned my skin beyond belief. I don't know if it hydrates, because I took it off as soon as I put it on! Do not recommend.

Comments about SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Hydrating Mud Mask:

This product made my skin look very fresh. Although in the beginning it did burn just a tiny bit for a minute or two, it wasn't anything terrible at all. I just thought it was working into my skin, which it was. The burning sensation did stop. This is my first time using the product and for the first try it definitely made my skin look clean and clear. It also moisturized it and made it feel smooth. I did read some of the reviews and saw that it burned them to the point they couldn't handle it, but for me that did not happen. It must be something to do with certain skin types because, like I said, it did not burn me to the extent as it did other people.

A slight tingle is normal and a sign of the product purifying your skin. If you think you're feeling something more than this that may be an allergic reaction, we would suggest getting tested by a dermatologist for possible allergies to any of the ingredients in this product to be safe.

The Mud Mask is made with mud and dries on the face while the Hydrating mask is clay based and does not dry. The Mud Mask is a heavier formula.
