Comments about Hot Tools Online Only Professional Marcel Iron:

I was blessed to find one at Goodwill. This product was typically made for professionals and yes if you've never used real Marcel irons you may burn yourself once, but I learned my lesson after one time. It helped me to keep up my daughter's hair during the summer to maintain a relaxed look without me putting chemicals in her hair until school started. It is a great tool to have around and a definite must for those who have very course, hard to straighten or curl hair. Next best thing to the old school Marcels they used to use on the stove.

Comments about Hot Tools Online Only Professional Marcel Iron:

For everyone complaining about how difficult this iron is to use I'm here to inform you that only professionals are properly trained on how to operate this particular iron. If you've never used anything other than a spring iron (normal curling iron) you WILL burn yourself. This honestly shouldn't even be sold on this site.

Comments about Hot Tools Online Only Professional Marcel Iron:

I love Hot Tools products, however I don't feel like I can properly rate this one because the first time I plugged it in it began to produce a burning smell, the barrel discolored, and it never worked. I am hoping to get it replaced so I can try again.

If you're a true trained professional with an open mind for new and older technics you'll understand the marcel. This kind of iron is versatile and offers a great way to curl the hair without marking it and without damaging the ends as the ends are the last piece of hair you'll pinch in the barrel. Serious professionals will use techniques clients can't do at home.

I would never recommend this product unless someone else is using it to curl your hair. Very difficult to use for yourself. I burned my hand and fingers more in the short time I had it than I ever did in all the years I had other curling irons. I would have given it negative stars if I could have. Whoever designed this must not use it! I felt like I was coordinated until I tried using this product.

This is the best curling iron

Comments about Hot Tools Online Only Professional Marcel Iron:

I got this curling iron 10 years ago. It finally died on me a couple month ago. I'm defitnetly purchasing another one. Yes, it was difficult to handle and I burned myself many times but with practice I learned how to use it. This is the only curling iron that holds my curl for hours without any products like spray or mouse. Maybe it would even hold for 2 days if I took care of my curls at bebedtimeIf you want a curling iron and curls to last you this is the one.

Comments about Hot Tools Online Only Professional Marcel Iron:

I have super fine hair that is very hard to curl and I've tried many curling irons. This one actually curls my hair. I still need mousse and hairspray to make it stay longer, but by far the best one I have found. It did take a day or two to get used to the fact that the handle is slightly different and the spring rod is on the opposite site, but I like that it holds the hair tight because my hair is so thin that it used to just fall out of the others. Gets very hot so be careful and it does not have a cap on the end, so if you are used to that, be careful that you don't touch it (common sense but we are creatures of habit)

I have very thick, fairly long hair. I would like very loose natural waves/curls (more of a natural look than curly doll hair). What size should I go for 1 inch, 1.25 inch, or 1.5 inch?

It seems the thicker the barrel the shorter it gets. That's what I can tell by the pictures. Is that true? I have medium, below the shoulder bob. What size do you recommend? Sometimes I find it difficult to get all my hair in the barrel with the current 1' curler I have from Hot Tools.

Actually, the length of the barrel is 4" on all of the models; the only thing that varies between the models is the barrel diameter.

For your hair length, we think the 1" or the 3/4" should be perfect! If you've had trouble in the past w/ 1" barrels, go for the smaller 3/4". Enjoy! :-)

I have medium hair but I like to change my hair style every so often to medium to long. Recently I have lost some hair so my hair isn't as thick (hoping for it to come back) so I'd say it's at a fairly average thickness and not too thin. What barrel would you recommend? I cant decide over the 1 inch or the 3/4 inch barrel since I change my hair style from medium length to long. I also have wavy, mixed-textured hair (fine on top, more coarse towards the ends) and sometimes curly. I think the 1 inch would be great but worried it's to thick and big. To be more specific, I love the mermaid curls and also the everyday curls (not the S wave)

Marcel irons have a locking mechanism to hold the hair around the barrel. They are frequently used by professional stylists in salon environments.

CeramicTI Tourmaline (purple) - Ceramic Tourmaline surface with titanium additive emits gentle far-infrared heat and negative ions to increase hydration and shine while reducing frizz.

24K gold plated (gold) - Even heat distribution create long-lasting curls and waves leaving hair looking smooth and glossy.

NanoCeramic (black & white) - NanoCeramic barrel creates an ultra smooth surface for frizz-free styles.

Any would be suitable for long, thick hair.
