First things first...use this essential pre-color prep step for perfect hair color. Prime for Perfection works as a primer for your hair, removing excess buildup that causes color to look dull or too dark. The result? Gorgeous, fresh and flawless hair color with true-color results.Formulated without ammonia, bleach, peroxide, parabens, phthalates and gluten. Our gentle hair-loving formula creates a smooth base so your hair can optimally receive new color for hair that looks and feels healthier, fresh, and downright fabulous.

Why Prime?

One of the most common problems for women who color their hair often is that over time, color tends to get dull and too dark. Just like a makeup primer, a hair color primer creates the optimal base for color application.

It works like this:

  • Prime for Perfection penetrates the hair cuticle
  • It then dissolves previous artificial color build-up
  • Artificial color washes away for better results when you color

While the processing time for Prime for Perfection is only 20 minutes, it will add an hour to your hair coloring experience-plan accordingly. Prime for Perfection is gentle enough to use every time you color, but for best results, we recommend you use every 3-4 times you color, or whenever you feel your color is dull or too dark, and always follow with Madison Reed Radiant Cream Color.
Skin Allergy Test - Before use, wash a small area inside of the elbow with soap and water and pat dry. Apply a small amount of Prime for Perfection on the area. Remove after 20 minutes with soap and water, or immediately if irritation occurs. If there is no sign of change to the area, you are ready to prime.

Begin with dry hair. Put on gloves (included) and apply the primer directly from the tube to dry hair-no mixing required. Starting at the back of the head, work in 2 inch sections, massaging away from the scalp toward the ends, fully saturating all areas of your hair which have been previously colored. Cover with plastic cap (included) and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse off well with warm water and shampoo thoroughly, paying attention to the lengths and ends of hair to ensure all primer is rinsed off. Shampoo once more. Resulting hair may be lighter in appearance with more golden tones. This is a normal part of the process.Fully dry hair and follow with Madison Reed Radiant Cream Color.

Note: Prime for Perfection is gentle enough to use every time you color, but for best results, use every 3-4 times you color, or whenever you feel your color is getting dull or too dark, and always follow with permanent color.
