I have this brush and love it for multiple reasons. Is there actually an exact same brush as this but with a shorter handle to allow for travel, purse use every day, etc.? Looking for something as big and fluffy as this powder brush, but just in a shorter version.

                    Hi Rebecca,

What a great question! Right now, we have our Mini Trio that you can find here (http://www.ulta.com/mini-trio-brush-set?productId=xlsImpprod10521067). That has a travel sized brush with a larger head (but it's a bit smaller than the Powder Brush).

We will take this feedback to the company, though, and see if there isn't something we can do here! Because there's nothing better than having your favorite brush at home AND on the go!

                    Thanks!

Both the powder and blush brush seem to be large and fluffy, and this is not a complaint. My question is do you need both brushes if both the brushes (blush brush and powder) have multiple uses?

                    A:

                    Hi JJ,

Thank you so much for such a great question! One of the things that people love about our brushes is that they are so multi-functional and it really comes down to whatever works best for you! :)

What makes the Powder Brush our largest and fluffiest head is the 1) the number of bristles we use in this brush; and 2) how hard the bristles are crimped in the ferrule (the "neck" of the brush). The harder they are crimped, the more they expand and the more fluff you get!

With the Blush Brush, we don't use quite as many bristles, and we don't crimp them as hard as we do the Powder ones, so it makes it less fluffy. That enables you to get a bit more precision in creating your blush look, but the fact that there is still "fluff" allows you to cover a wider surface evenly.

Hope that helps - and at the end of the day, we want you to use these however works best for you! And, above all else, that you're happy with them!

                    Hi Gayle,

It definitely all depends on the look that you want! :)

If you are looking for a flawless, but natural look, then blending is your best friend. You will want to work your product into your skin and make sure that any defined lines from foundation, powder and/or blush are blended in. You can use the powder brush for blending your blush, but I love the Real Techniques blush brush (Item 2230002), or our Real Techniques Sculpting Brush. Those both blend like a dream. The Sculpting Brush (Item 2283194) is perfect if you are looking to define your cheekbones a little bit more.

                    Thanks!

This brush seems very large. For applying my mineral foundation, will I be able to get full coverage into small crevices, such as under eyes? If not is there a better brush for my mineral foundation?

                    Hi Make Me Up,

What a great question - and thanks for the detail; that helps us point you to a brush that should work well! I think you're absolutely right - the large and fluffy bristles in the powder brush may not give you the coverage that you need.

In this case, because you are looking for full coverage, I would point you in one of two directions.

The first (individual) brush I would recommend is the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush (Ulta Item #: 2244502). This is one of our best selling brushes and the density and shorter cut of the bristles will give you a better all-over look, especially with mineral foundation.

The second brush I would recommend for you comes in one of our sets, the Real Techniques Core Collection (Ulta Item #2229998). This set has my all-time favorite brush in it (the Buffing Brush) which is like the Expert Face brush, but has slightly longer bristles. It also has several other nice brushes for foundation application (Detailer brush, great for concealer or a secondary use for lipstick; a pointed foundation brush: use with liquid foundation to build custom coverage; and the contour brush which you can use to apply highlighter to contour or create a sheer finish). Plus, it comes with a standup case for organization or it's perfect for drying your brushes after you wash them.

                    Hope that helps!

                    Hi Miya,

Such a great question! That Powder Brush is one of my favorites!

As much as I love it for things like powder, bronzer, blush, etc, I actually would recommend that you use a brush with shorter, denser bristles to apply self-tanner. That is going to give you a bit more control and will enable you to really buff the product into your skin.

My top recommendation would be the Buffing Brush that is found in the Core Collection (that is Ulta Item # 2229998). That is my absolute favorite Buffing Brush ever! I honestly don't think I could live with out it! :)

The other one I would recommend (if you don't want to buy the set) is our Expert Face Brush (Ulta Item # 2244502). That is one of our best sellers and I think you would love it.

Either of those two brushes would be a great tool for you to apply self-tanner.

                    Thanks - hope that helps!

                    HI Nat727,

The great thing about our Real Techniques brushes is that they are designed to be the ideal tool for whatever look you are going for.. The Powder Brush has synthetic taklon bristles, custom cut and crimped for ideal pick-up and release of most powders. The brush enables you to build and blend to your optimum coverage level, from either a natural, soft-powder look to a flawless, airbrushed finish.

                    Thanks!

                    Hi Bengalibarbie,

Such a great question! The wonderful thing about almost all of our Real Techniques brushes is that they have multiple uses. So, to answer your question, yes! You can use this for powder foundation, but also to apply bronzer.

I actually use mine to apply bronzer since it is so plush, it gives me that sun-kissed finish that I want.

                    Thanks!

                    Hi Princess,

Great question! Contouring & Sculpting are so on trend right now! I hadn't been asked this question before, so I went to our experts, Sam & Nic Chapman, the sisters behind the Real Techniques line, and asked them.

This Powder brush has quite a large, plush brush head and may not be the best brush for working to get the sculpted look you are going for. In terms of applying contour powder (and blending), I would recommend something with a smaller head, and possibly something with a bit more angle to it.

You could look to use our Sculpting Set (http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod12191293), which has the amazing Sculpting Brush (for contour product application & great blending), a Setting brush (for highlighting) and a Fan Brush for powder application, precision contouring and some blending.

You could also look to use the Contouring brush in our Core Collection (http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod3220069). This brush is ideal for applying contour product as well as blending. Plus, it comes with my absolute favorite brush in the collection, the Buffing Brush!

Hope all that helps! Thanks again for a great question!

Absolutely! This brush can be used with loose powder, pressed powder, mineral powder, or for a sheer application of bronzer. Its large size also makes it ideal for applying product to the neck, collarbone, and body.
