Comments about Phyto Specific Phytorelaxer Index 2:

As an african american woman I have been "trained" since the age of 9 to always buy the 9.00 relaxer kits. I suffered severe breakage and thinning from how harsh the relaxers were and as an adult for the past 3 years I would only put in a relaxer once a year. Even with putting them in once a year my hair would always be left dull and lifeless. I was looking for a brazilian keratin treatment and found this product. I went out on a limb and purchased it, and I can say the price is worth it. The relaxer didnt my my hair super thin bone straight. I have maybe a 4c hair texture and it simply loosened my curls to a nice "S" shape and my hair is still thick and manageable. Nice and shiny will buy more products.

I love this product. My hair is straight but gets curly when wet. Much healthier than when I use regular relaxers. But I don't like that the top of the relaxer gets dry and hardened so when you open it and mix it, you end up with these hard little pieces that are hard to wash out of your hair.

Comments about Phyto Specific Phytorelaxer Index 2:

I have relaxed my hair lots of times, but I went natura the last 3 and grew out my hair. I wanted to choose a good product for my switch back to relaxed. This product was ok. The best thing about it is the scent. It ABSOLUTELY smells better than other relaxers (after the process is complete...). Otherwise, this is just a regular relaxer. It doesn't do anything phenomenal to my hair that I couldn't get in a much lower priced box perm. Additionally, the gloves and protecting balm included were pretty low quality- considering the high price of the kit.

When it comes to hair products, I am not a bargain shopper. I buy what works no matter the price. For me, this product was a let down. I expected something more.

It worked fine and I've washed once since the relaxer, but it does ABSOLUTELY nothing that makes it worthy of this price point.

Comments about Phyto Specific Phytorelaxer Index 2:

I am caucasian with very resistant, unruly, frizzy, naturally curly hair. I have always hated the frizz, and have never been able to control my hair, no matter what I tried.

My hair is soft, but the strands are very thick and strong. Since my hair is so resistant, a straightening iron alone is not effective in straightening my hair. So I need to chemically relax it, in addition to ironing it regularly, to get a smooth, polished look.

I have been using Phytospecific Index 2 every six months for the past four years and have always been satisfied with the results. My hair is now bone straight, and feels very soft, sleak, and smooth. I still need to iron my hair once or twice a week after washing and drying it, but it is lot easier to maintain than it used to be.

I would not recommend Index 2 for most caucasian hair-- if your hair is fine and delicate, it will stretch, melt, or fry your hair, as it did my sister's. Index 1 might be a better option for you since it is gentler, or you might want to avoid relaxing it completely. In my case, this product was a great discovery, and has really helped me feel good about my hair fo the first time in 30 years. It is also a lot less expensive than a salon.

I used this product as a touch up relaxer on my dual textured hair. (I have naturally wavy and kinky hair). It did straighten out the kinks, and was much less irritating than most relaxers, but the results are about the same, and don't las any longer. I'd rather have my old Raveen relaxer back.

Comments about Phyto Specific Phytorelaxer Index 2:

I'm not exaggerating. This product changed my life. I have always struggled with my very course, kinky, THICK and unmanageable hair. I straighten my hair (blow dry first, then flat iron) about once a week, touching up a little everyday. While I can always get my hair to look nice, stright and smooth, the process getting there was exhausting. I never wore my hair curly so I wanted something that would smoothen and straighten my hair, making the styling process easier. I was very nervous to try a relaxer because I was afraid my hair would fall out or that it would look very damaged. I can't explain how amazing the results of this were. First of all, the process is a breeze. Great directions. I did it myself at home and followed the timing to a tee (very important). When I washed my hair for the first time, I wanted to cry. Tears of joy!!!! It was what I had always dreamed about; my hair was straight, soft, shiny, and I could run my hands through it!!! Blow drying got even more emotional...my locks were shiny and the process was soooo much easier. I also felt great knowing this product is relatively natural (when it comes to relaxers). Relaxers have historically been marketed towards African American hair...I'm caucasian (althought I do have ethnic hair). DONT shy away from a relaxer just because you don't think it's "for you." This relaxer changed my life and I now have hair I am proud of. ANY girl who struggles with their curly hair and wants to wear it straight, you need to try this. Don't wait. If you follow the directions, it will leave your hair gorgeous. Nothing to be afraid of! Thank you thank you thank you Phtyospecific!

All of Phyto and Phyto Specific Shampoos are safe for any type of relaxer or chemical process on the hair, as they do not use a chemical surfactant; they use a coconut oil derived cleansing base.

We recommend to use the Phyto Specific Shampoos and Masks, specifically the Ultra Smoothing Shampoo and Mask to maintain the hair.

                        A:

We recommend to wait at least 5 to 10 days after a relaxer to do any permanent color process on the hair after a Phytorelaxer - no matter what index it is. If you are using a semi permanent that's ammonia free, those options can be used more readily, but we still recommend waiting at least 72 hours unless your hair is being professionally done and you're using a hair color that does not contain accelerant or ammonia.

We reached out to Phyto directly to obtain more information. We hope this helps, but if you choose to use the Phyto Specific Phytorelaxer Index 2, we definitely recommend performing a strand test in a discreet area to ensure it has no adverse effect on your hair. You may wish to also consult your hair stylist for his or her professional advise prior to use. Here is the information that Phyto provided:

"Our Phytorelaxers are NOT compatible with metallic dye or Henna type colorants. Our only concern is that most of the 'rinses' that many are using on their hair are metallic dyes. Also, please keep in mind, one cannot overlap the demarcation line for any type of relaxer service; one could actually use the rinse color one week after the relaxer, but not in the opposite order."

Yes, it is safe to use the Phyto Specific Phytorelaxer Index 2 on a "rinse-type" color, as it is not "permanent" oxidative color. A strand test (on a small portion of your hair in a discreet area) is always recommended as a precaution to ensure optimal results. We hope this helps! :-)

It is okay to trim and style the hair after using Phyto Specific Phytorelaxer Index 2. However, when styling, we do not recommend the use of extremely hot tools: it is best to keep the irons and blow dryers on a medium setting right after using the relaxer. When relaxing, the hair has undergone a transformation and is vulnerable to extremes- heat, pulling, etc.

Remember: we care most about the health of the hair with respect to all our products... A little extra care the first time the hair is styled after the relaxer is a golden rule and results will shine! :-)
