Ask a Question

The special effects of Light Filter Technology and the performance of long-wear Photoset Polymers blend together to make this powder foundation magic. Not only does it act like your favorite photo filter on your phone, but it also stays true all day. In today's super social world where everyone's a photographer, this product couldn't have come at a better time.

Why You'll Love It: All About the Formula

  • Light Filter Technology: Works just like the filters that make your skin look amazing on the photo app you love. Transparent particles diffuse light in various directions, blurring imperfections while still keeping the subject in focus. Smashbox is not using the usual chalky particles to fuse the formula, which creates a muddy effect. Since the particles in this foundation are translucent, the pigment's true color always comes through.
  • Photoset Polymers: Taken from medical-grade liquid bandage technology, which sticks to skin for hours on end. You can always count on extended wear with this formula.

Just The Facts:

  • 8-hour wear
  • Non-drying. Non-caking. Non-settling.
  • Customizable finish - sheer or full - with a double-sided sponge
  • Buildable coverage
  • Formulated without parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate, phthalates, oil & fragrance
A specially designed double-sided sponge lets you customize your coverage. Use the velvety side for a natural, sheer-to-medium finish, or the smooth side for full coverage. Think of it as 2 filter effects in 1 take-anywhere compact.

I found this powder last month and it has been a life saver. It has cut my daily touch ups to once or twice a day (which is very rare for me). It provides full coverage and blends smoothly on top of foundation.

Comments about Smashbox Photo Filter Powder Foundation:

I have sensitive skin that is both dry and prone to breakouts. I love this foundation because it doesn't aggravate my skin and still provides the coverage I need. I use my own large foundation brush instead of the sponge applicator provided, but this is just a personal preference. I've tried Smashbox Halo foundation, and it would seem ideal for someone with dryer skin but I don't think it can be used for anything over "light" coverage. Use this if you need something more medium to full coverage and just be sure to moisturize. It will not dry you out, but like all powder, it will accentuate the dry patches if you leave them untreated.

Comments about Smashbox Photo Filter Powder Foundation:

I was concerned how this would appear on dry skin. It applied wonderfully! I use a great moisturizer and still use primer under this. But, it is great for a quick amount of coverage on days you just want to get out the door. The pigmentation is great. Also, if you use powder bronzer and contour, it will blend nicely on this powder foundation. The only drawback was the packaging for me. There isn't much product in here for the price. But if you can get this on sale, I think that would make it worth it.

Also, I used concealer under my eyes only and didn't need to set it with anything else after applying this over the concealer. I have had to use powder on top of other powder foundations in the past, so that made this a better buy as well.

I do have some acne scars and blemishes on my face and I can still feel comfortable without concealer it's fantastic! It is priced a bit high but it lasts quite awhile and is of great quality!
