Happy with seeing results in just one week. Already smoothing my fine lines and wrinkles around my moth and lower face upper neck. Not making my skin sensitive or irritated even with daily use, but I am using the buffer with it right now. Plan to phase out the bufffer over next two weeks and use alone.

Comments about Dermalogica Overnight Retinol Repair:

Ok. So I am in my mid-30's and I am dealing with hormonal stubborn acne plus attempting to take preventative care of my skin. Retinol is tricky. Very tricky. This retinol product does come with a buffer cream which is brilliant. The purpose of the buffer cream is to allow you to adjust the amount of retinol being applied to your skin, while also having enough product cover your face....if that makes sense. Per instructions you should start out using a ratio of 3:1 I believe. So 3 parts buffer cream and 1 part retinol. I put the creams on the back of my hand and mix them together to make one cream and apply to my face focusing on my forehead, lower cheeks, chin, jawline and neck while avoiding the creases of my nose, eye and lip area. I started out only using it every other day, for about 2 weeks and have just recently started using it every day, but I am still only using a 3:1 ratio (thereabout) and only in the evenings. You will find some flaking and dryness in certain areas, I think it's to be expected. I also use moisturizer morning and evening. The trick is finding what works for you with how much to use and how often to use it. Per reviews, start light and let your skin adjust and slowly increase retinol over time. If you happen to run out of buffer cream and haven't graduated to using only retinol I believe it is safe to use your favorite Dermalogica moisturizer as a substitute.
I can definitely tell a difference in the health, appearance, liveliness, tone and condition of my skin. I believe overall this is the result of all of the Dermalogica products I've recently begun as a new skin care routine within the last month. But if I skip a few days of retinol I can definitely tell a difference :)

                      Hello Taytay:

Thank you for your interest in Dermalogica. If you are still breaking out on your back we recommend you treat the acne first. For Adults we recommend the MedicBac products, and for Teenagers the Clear Start products. After your skin has cleared up is when we would recommend you to use the Overnight Retinol Repair alone with out any other exfoliating products in the PM.

I am 32 with sensitive combo skin and currently use the ultra calming products. I am prone to reactive redness on my cheeks, nose, and chin. I am, however, concerned about preventing/slowing aging, so want to know if a retinol would be good to use in conjunction with the calming regiment? I also use an AHA morning and night, would this be ok to use with this product?

                      Hello Kristeenie:

If you have sensitive skin and concerned about prematurely aging skin you can introduce Intensive Moisture Balance in the PM. Retinol could sensitize your skin. It would be best to get face mapped by an Ulta Associate to find a product that suits your concerns.

Hello, I read one of the review comments & a lady said that she used this product during the day and at night, is that a good idea to do? Or should this product only be used at night? Also, I'm on my second week of using this product. I use it around my mouth at night for hyper pigmentation and In the morning I use a moisturizer with sunscreen (35) in it every morning and also the jack black chapped stick that also has sunscreen in. I've been doing all these things and I've noticed that I now have some hyper pigmentation that wasn't there when I first started using this product or was there but now seems to be getting darker.. what should I do?

Thank you for your inquiry. We do not recommend using this product in the daytime. It is extremely important that you stay out of the sun when using retinol products. Try to keep an SPF of 50 on your skin, re-apply every 2-3 hours and use a hat when outdoors.

Thank you for your inquiry. You can use this product at night, alone. We strongly advice that you introduce Overnight Retinol Repair slowly and adjust according to your sensitivity level. The MediBac products have exfoliants in them which can cause your skin to be a little more reactive to other products.

Thank you for your inquiry. At your age we recommend adding MAP-15 to your moisturizer to prevent premature aging and using Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF50 every day. Unless you have a specific concern that you would like to correct with Overnight Retinol Repair it wouldn't be recommended to start using at such a young age.

Thank you for your inquiry. Depending on your skins tolerance level you may be able to use both of these products. We recommend slowly introducing Overnight Retinol Repair 1% by mixing it with the buffer cream and starting off every other night. Be sure to wear sunscreen everyday.

Do I need another moisturizer at night as well? What moisturizer do you reccomend for during the day? Will this help a woman who is 60? Thank you

Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend using Dynamic Skin Recovery SPF 50 during the day. If you are experiencing excessive dryness layer Phyto Replenish Oil under your moisturizer during the day.
