Comments about Chi Onyx Euroshine 1" Flat Iron:

I had seriously high hopes for this iron based on the price and the many reviews I read (elsewhere). I gave it a week and ended up returning it. My Sedu died (or so I thought) and it appeared that Ulta no longer carried it so I decided to go back to Chi, which I had always used prior to my last iron. I was hesitant to spend this much on an iron because I have only been getting about a year or so out of them, granted I use it EVERY day. I had a 20% off coupon so I decided to give it a try. I should have paid closer attention to the details on the box because this iron has pre-set temps which may not be an issue for most but I happen to need a temp of 425 and with this iron it was either 410 or 435. I did however like that the plates were longer than most irons and the cord is super long. I am not sure why this iron just didn't do it for me because the plates are ceramic just like my previous iron but it was snagging my hair and taking several passes to smooth my hair. My hair is wavy but coarse so it can be a little difficult but again, at this price I expected it to do the job. The good news is that my husband was able to repair my Sedu so I will stick with that until it dies once and for all and then I will start the replacement quest all over again.

Comments about Chi Onyx Euroshine 1" Flat Iron:

This is an excellent flat iron hands down. I haven't had any problems with it. It gets nice and hot. Glides smoothly over my time hair and doesn't snag at all. It's a nice shape for creating curls. Also it helps too to get to the very top of your hair. Leaves my hair shiny and smooth. I definitely recommend this flat iron. I've tried many over the years. It's kind of an obsession of mine. Lol! T3, Infrashine, Rusk, GHD, Brocato, Paul Mitchell and the list goes on. I can't see how anyone could be disappointed with this lovely iron.

Comments about Chi Onyx Euroshine 1" Flat Iron:

I have long, frizzy, nappy, curly/wavy Latina hair and I have to say I love what this straightener can do. It was defiantly worth the price. The only down fall is it gets super super hot, if your not careful it can burn bad. Also since it's new it has a sorta scent to it, but it's going away. I love that it comes with a traveling pouch thing & the cord is super long.. will defiantly recommend!

I have used countless professional flat irons, and this is by far my favourite one! You can literally see the shine it creates with the ions from running it through your hair once. It is ergonomically and has a beautiful design!

Comments about Chi Onyx Euroshine 1" Flat Iron:

This is my first 'nice' straightener (was using a conair one before) and am very disappointed. It looks nice, heats up fast but snags my fine colored hair so bad. I need to straighten large sections of hair at a time to avoid a painful experience.

While both of these tools provide award winning CHI technology they offer difference features. The Euroshine reaches a max 450 degrees which can be adjusted on its digital interface. It also features extended length plates and an ion generator. The Romantic Maroon, in its beautiful print reaches a set temperature of 392 degrees and can not be adjusted.

        • Q:

Which chi iron do you think is better the Onyx Euroshine 1" iron or the G2 Ceramic & Titanium 1.25" Hairstyling Iron? They both seem like nice irons. I've used the basic chi iron for the past ~20 years and I like it, but looking to see if there is a better option. My hair is long and semi thick, def. not fine. I noticed on the chi website that the G2 is considered professional grade. Is there a reason the G2 is rated professional?
Asked on 12/29/2016 by Susan from Wilmington, NC

          • Staff Expert

            A:

The Onyx Euroshine features ceramic plates with a unique onyx coating, while the G2 Ceramic & Titanium 1" Hairstyling Iron features titanium infused ceramic plates. If you have very thick and/or coarse, hard-to-style hair, we would recommend the G2 for you for best results, although you can achieve gorgeous results on all hair types using either iron. We definitely recommend reading the ratings and reviews for each at Ulta.com. You can also test the G2 at your nearest Ulta Beauty store in our "plug & play" area. :-)

I have super thin wavy hair that breaks quite easy. Which flat iron would you recommend?
Asked on 12/29/2016 by Amber from Rosharon, TX

          1 answer

          • Staff Expert

            A:

The Onyx Euroshine 1" Flat Iron effectively styles all hair types. For thin hair that is prone to breakage, we recommend setting to a lower or the lowest heat setting for best results. We also recommend using a heat protectant styling spray prior to using your heat styling tools, such as the CHI 44 Iron Guard.
