Comments about Chi Onyx Euroshine 1" Flat Iron:

I have used countless professional flat irons, and this is by far my favourite one! You can literally see the shine it creates with the ions from running it through your hair once. It is ergonomically and has a beautiful design!

    Not for fine hair

Comments about Chi Onyx Euroshine 1" Flat Iron:

This is my first 'nice' straightener (was using a conair one before) and am very disappointed. It looks nice, heats up fast but snags my fine colored hair so bad. I need to straighten large sections of hair at a time to avoid a painful experience.

    • Q:

Which chi iron do you think is better the Onyx Euroshine 1" iron or the G2 Ceramic & Titanium 1.25" Hairstyling Iron? They both seem like nice irons. I've used the basic chi iron for the past ~20 years and I like it, but looking to see if there is a better option. My hair is long and semi thick, def. not fine. I noticed on the chi website that the G2 is considered professional grade. Is there a reason the G2 is rated professional?
Asked on 12/29/2016 by Susan from Wilmington, NC

        A:

The Onyx Euroshine features ceramic plates with a unique onyx coating, while the G2 Ceramic & Titanium 1" Hairstyling Iron features titanium infused ceramic plates. If you have very thick and/or coarse, hard-to-style hair, we would recommend the G2 for you for best results, although you can achieve gorgeous results on all hair types using either iron. We definitely recommend reading the ratings and reviews for each at Ulta.com. You can also test the G2 at your nearest Ulta Beauty store in our "plug & play" area. :-)

    • Q:

I have super thin wavy hair that breaks quite easy. Which flat iron would you recommend?
Asked on 12/29/2016 by Amber from Rosharon, TX

      1 answer

      • Staff Expert

        A:

The Onyx Euroshine 1" Flat Iron effectively styles all hair types. For thin hair that is prone to breakage, we recommend setting to a lower or the lowest heat setting for best results. We also recommend using a heat protectant styling spray prior to using your heat styling tools, such as the CHI 44 Iron Guard.

Trying to decide between Chi straighteners. Which one do you recommend for mid-length, wavy, hair with frizz, the Ultra or Onyx?

      • Staff Expert

        A:

You can achieve great results with the Onyx Euroshine or with one of our Ultra CHI irons. The Onyx Euroshine has additional features like extended plates, higher temp (max 450), auto shutoff, an ion generator, and includes a thermal mat. If your hair is coarse, thick, long, and/or difficult to style, the Onyx Euroshine is a great choice!

My order came with some kind of case or mat. Is it safe to put the hot iron down on the item with which it came -- is it designed for putting the hot iron on it while in use, or is it only meant for storage after the device has cooled down?
