Oil Control Lotion

2.0 oz Item 2152602

Find in Store-

A feather-light lotion containing microsponges to absorb oil on the skin's surface, helping to combat shine and maintain an all-day matte finish. Niacinamide, Zinc Gluconate, Yeast Extract, Caffeine and Biotin purify and inhibit overactive sebaceous gland activity while soothing irritation. Salicylic Acid clears congested follicles to minimize future breakout activity, while Enantia Chlorantha Bark Extract controls over-active oil glands, helping to reduce oily shine on skin's surface. Naturally-antiseptic Camphor, Balm Mint and Cornflower cool and calm inflammation. Contains no artificial fragrance or color.

Hw it works:

  • Microsponges absorb excess oil and eliminate shine while providing an all-day matte finish.
  • Salicylic Acid aids in exfoliation of dead surface cells to help keep follicles clear of congestion.
  • Enantia Chlorantha Bark Extract helps regulate sebum to reduce oily surface shine.
  • Niacinamide, Yeast Extract, Horse Chestnut, Licorice, Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5) and Caffeine regulate sebum production and soothe inflammation.
  • Zinc Gluconate regulates overactive sebaceous glands. Hyssopus, a plant anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory, helps prevent future breakouts.

We recommend that first-time Dermalogica users visit an authorized skin treatment professional for a client consultation in an ULTA store.

I religiously watch my favorite YouTuber nikkia Joy. so when she talked about this product on her Channel I had to get it. it worked fantastic. she did recommend only using this once a day. I can see that it does dry out your skin. so I do make sure to moisturize my skin at night.

i bought this product because of all of the positive reviews that it had, but unfortunately my experience was not as positive. As soon as I started using this product I began breaking out in places that I don't usually break out in. It also caused a major flare up of the hormonal acne that I experience along my chin and jaw. I continued to use it for 2-3 weeks thinking maybe my skin would adjust, but there was not even a slight improvement. As soon as I stopped using this, my skin was back to normal.

                        Hello Jade:

Thank you for your interest in Dermalogica. The Oil Control Lotion does not contain SPF. If you are looking for an oil absorbing moisturizer with SPF we highly recommend that you use Oil Free Matte, it controls shine, provides hydration and has a broad spectrum SPF in one. Hi! I am currently using the dermal clay cleanser, toner, and active moist. I was using the oil control instead of the active moist and it works awesome but doesn't give me enough moisture alone but the active moist makes me really shiny. I have very oily skin, acne prone, and very enlarged pores. Can you let me know what would be best to use.

                        Hi Nicki,

Oil Control Lotion is not only oil free but it also has oil absorbing properties where as Active Moist doesn't absorb extra oil. You can try using Skin Hydrating Booster under Oil Control Lotion to give you the moisture you are missing.
We hope this answers your question. Thank You!

My question is similar to a previous question, but I'm asking anyway...is it necessary to use this product with the Clearing Mattifier in order to see true results or can it be used alone? My skin is incredibly oily, prone to breakouts, and I have an issue with blackheads and enlarged pores on my nose. On top of that, I'm a veterinary student on a budget and I live in an incredibly humid area. I would love to cut down on the oiliness of my skin, but I'm not sure which product would be best?

Thank you for your inquiry. It is not mandatory that these products be used together however, for enlarged pores and wanting to reduce oil production it is recommended that you apply a very thin layer or Clearing Mattifier under Oil Control Lotion. Clearing Mattifier is a treatment product that will actually regilaute oil production. You may also do touch ups with Clearing Mattifier throughout the day.

I have very oily skin and I wash my face at night with Cetaphil oil control foam wash. After that I apply a prescribed acne medication called Ziana. In the morning, I don't apply the medicine, and I need something to keep my face matte. Will I need this oil control lotion paired with the clearing mattifier to keep my face matte? Or can I buy just one of the two, as I'm on a budget.

                        Hello Jas,

Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend starting with Oil Free Matte SPF 30 for daytime if you can only afford one product. Clearing Mattifer will help to control oil production however, this can be added later. It is also important to exfoliate and use Sebum Clearing Masque regularly.

Is there an oil control lotion by dermalogica that does NOT have the acne component? I bought an oily skin kit and that control lotion did not have that in it. Worry it might not agree with my skin otherwise.

Thank you for your inquiry. The only oil controlling product we have that does not contain salicylic acid is Oil Free Matte SPF30. This is a daytime moisturizer that has microsponges to soak up excess oil and sun protection. This product can be used everyday to minimize shine with light hydration.
