    The classic gold was better

Comments about Hot Tools NanoCeramic Curling Iron:

I used the classic Gold barrel Hot Tools curling iron in the 1.25" for many years. It held up wonderfully and never gave me any issues other than needing some maintenance after several years to make the spring mechanism work smoothly again and stop squeaking. It finally died (I don't even know how many years I owned it - 10? More? Ages.) - I decided to look into irons that protect hair from damage so I gave this black/white model a try. The curls fell out immediately. Very odd - never had any issues with the gold and I set the temp about 2/3rds to the max for both types. Additionally, my hair (a dark blond, natural/not colored or highlighted mix of fine and medium hair) refused to glide through the barrel smoothly. It really pulled at my hair to get it through- not ideal. It felt damaging and made the process jerky, which interrupted the curling technique. This was entirely different than the gold barrel, which my hair glided through yet never had issues with sliding out of the clamp. Definitely a return and a disappointment- maybe the purple barrel is worth a try, but I may check out other brands first.

Comments about Hot Tools NanoCeramic Curling Iron:

I just bought this curling wand and was so excited to try it out. I am awful with a curling iron and really can only do a good job straightening my hair. I wanted a wand that would give me the perfect loose and beachy waves. This product did exactly that! I was so surprised with how well my hair looked when I was finished with it, especially since I am not very good at styling my hair. I would definitely recommend this wand to anyone who is looking for an easy way to get the loose curl look!

The difference is the material of each -

CeramicTI Tourmaline (purple) - Ceramic Tourmaline surface with titanium additive emits gentle far-infrared heat and negative ions to increase hydration and shine while reducing frizz.

24K gold plated (gold) - Even heat distribution create long-lasting curls and waves leaving hair looking smooth and glossy.

NanoCeramic (black & white) - NanoCeramic barrel creates an ultra smooth surface for frizz-free styles.

That is correct, this tool is not dual voltage. This tool is designed to operate at US standard voltage 120V. Hot Tools does not advise to use it with a converter, as it may damage the tool.

                                A:

The NanoCeramic material of the barrel is ideal for color-treated, damaged, or over-processed hair. NanoCeramic means that there are finer particles of ceramic that are used in making the surface of the iron for a smoother surface that glides across hair more easily and heats more evenly. For long hair like yours, to create loose waves, we'd suggest using either the 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" barrel size.
