                      A:

Hi Mrs. Bartram! If you have dark brown color-treated hair, the closest neutral shade we have in our Couleur Experte line is 5.0 Caramel Glaze. It will give you a medium brown base color and caramel highlights. You should perform a strand test to see how long it takes the highlights to lift to a caramel shade. We do not recommend leaving the highlights on for more than 25 minutes. We hope this will work for you!

I have bleached hair that I don't love. I used this product many times prior to getting my hair bleached at the salon. This toasted coconut is closer to my natural color. Can I use this on bleached hair? My hair is turning a little yellow and I don't like this upkeep. I want to go back to using L'Oréal.

Hi Liz! As long as it has been at least 2 weeks since you bleached, your hair is in good condition, and your hair has warm yellow tones in it, you can use Couleur Experte 8.0 Toasted Coconut. If your hair is a very pale yellow, almost white, you must use a filler to put the warmth back in your hair so you do not discolor. You can get that done at The Salon at Ulta Beauty!

Hi! I normally use Vanilla Icing (maybe 7.1), and that is about the color my hair is naturally, but in the summer, my hair gets a lighter with the sun. Should I use Ice Meringue? I want to keep the cool look, or should I just use another ash blonde color from Preference and just do the highlights? I don't want any noticeable change. Thanks!

                      A:

Hi! If you would like to go one shade lighter for the summer you may want to consider using shade #8.1 Iced Meringue, this will have similar cool and iridescent tones! Since this shade is only one level lighter than what you've been using it should not be a dramatic change! You may always do a strand test first as well to preview what your results will be! Since you like using cooler shades you may want to check out our EverPure Blonde Shampoo as well! This is our anti-brass shampoo that will neutralize any warm tones in the hair! We hope this information is helpful!

Hi Mary! Thanks for asking about Couleur Experte. The most similar haircolor to the Couleur Experte would actually depend on your percentage of gray. If you have less than 25% gray you can use Superior Preference (http://tinyurl.com/lqj542z), but if you have more than 25% gray we would recommend using Excellence Creme (http://tinyurl.com/ka7fulo).

I have been going to the salon, but find it will be cheaper to use this product. My hair is natural curly and down past the middle of my back. Do you think one box will be enough? If not can I mix the 2 boxes together to make a bigger batch? Thanks!

Hi Tricia! If you have very long and curly hair, you may want to consider getting 2 or 3 boxes, just to be safe! If your hair is thick, you may need all 3 boxes. You would use one kit at a time, preparing a new one when you run out of your current mixture. We hope this helps!

How can I use this product to darken the top layer of my hair and make it look more like a natural color and not orange? Can I just "paint" on the darker color on the top layer of my hair?

                      A:

The Couleur Experte Kit actually has 2 distinct parts, 1. a hair dye and 2. a highlighting kit. Since it sounds like you want to color in your highlights you really only need a haircolor kit like the Superior Preference. The best shade to use over the orange highlights would be a light brown. In the Preference, use light brown 6 and in the Couleur Experte, use the almond roca 6.0. In the Couleur Experte you would only need to use the haircolor portion of the kit. P.S. there is no pigment in the highlighting portion of the kit so it wouldn't cover anything
You can safely color the hair 48 hours after the last color or highlighting.

Hi. I always go to the salon to have my highlights, 2 shades of blonde. My natural hair is medium-light Brown, I have 2 inches regrowth. Can I use this product on my hair? Will the base colour cover my highlights? I have long hair about bra strap length, would 1 kit do? Or do I need to buy 2?

Hello Shelley-Ann! We would recommend to use the product at least 3-4 weeks after you visited the salon. You can use the product, but you have to be very cautious of where you are placing your highlights since you already have previous highlights. The base color will go over your previously highlighted hair, but will appear lighter where the highlights are. We would recommend to purchase 2 boxes. We hope this information helps you!

Hi Lori! If the medium brown has faded and is looking a bit lighter, than Couleur Experte 6.0 Almond Rocca will be a great color to choose! If the color still looks like a medium brown, we would suggest trying 5.0 Caramel Glaze. We hope this helps!
