Worked well when I was trying to slowly go back to my natural shade. The highlighting gave it extra movement and dimension to the color, but had I not been almost platinum I doubt it would have done anything to my color.

Comments about L'Oréal Multi-Tonal Color System:

I purchased 6.1 "light ash brown". But it isn't ash at all. My hair turned out with lots of red in it. Not at all what I expected, as "ash" usually indicates no red tones. It wasn't a bad result, just not expected. Not difficult to use, and it seemed gentler than most. Be careful with your color selection, though.

                        • Q:

I have naturally medium brown hair that I've been getting colored at s salon for years. The color is a caramel brown with all over chunky light golden blonde highlights. Actually I've had this same color so often that it appears predominantly blonde except the top 2 or 3 inches where the Carmel color is and it's about 50/50 there. I am thinking of using ginger twist in this product. What I would like is coppery red hair with golden blonde highlights. Will this do the trick? I'm worried that the red will be too dark and the highlights won't be prominent enough. Also, a bit worried that the red might look a bit pink on my highlights. And tips/advice/suggestions??

Hello, I usually get my hair colored and highlighted at a salon. Though, it's been about 4 or 5 months since I've had it done. My natural hair color is dirty blond. I have short hair to my ear lobe with layers. Would you recommend this product and I like the colors Biscotti 7.0 or 7.1 Vanilla Icing? I'm just nervous that my hair will turn orange. Your response would be greatly appreciated?

Thank you for inquiring about our products! If your natural hair color is a dark blonde, you can use either of those shades. The only time you should see orange is if you are using a shade too light for your natural hair color. The 7.1 is a Dark Ash Blonde. To prevent any orange or red tones the ash is the best option.

My hair is highlighted blonde but I have so much light gray that, unless I go with another option I'll just have blonde streaks on top of gray. My natural color used to be medium to dark blonde but I've always preferred a weave to make it look lighter and have been able to go around 4 months between weaves as there isn't a very drastic contrast as my hair grows out. Will this cover the gray and which color would you recommend? Can I apply it myself or will I need help?

The closest would be 8.0 Medium Blonde Toasted Coconut, which is a shade darker than the 9 Natural Blonde. I last used the L'Oréal Bold Browns 7 Chocolate on the roots and t14 toner after. I have about a quarter of an inch outgrowth but I think the level 7 was to dark, because I'd like to go more blonde a long time from now. If I go from a level 7 to 5 (just on the darker balliage) will I get hot roots became the color is to light

Couleur Experte 6.1 (French Eclair) is a light ash brown, however if you are predominantly grey we would suggest a 6.0 light brown shade. You should not pull any red tones if you are within 2 shades of your natural hair color. The highlights in this product will lighten the hair in the areas it is applied, leaving it a lighter tone.

Hi Mrs. Bartram! If you have dark brown color-treated hair, the closest neutral shade we have in our Couleur Experte line is 5.0 Caramel Glaze. It will give you a medium brown base color and caramel highlights. You should perform a strand test to see how long it takes the highlights to lift to a caramel shade. We do not recommend leaving the highlights on for more than 25 minutes. We hope this will work for you!

I have bleached hair that I don't love. I used this product many times prior to getting my hair bleached at the salon. This toasted coconut is closer to my natural color. Can I use this on bleached hair? My hair is turning a little yellow and I don't like this upkeep. I want to go back to using L'Oréal.

Hi Liz! As long as it has been at least 2 weeks since you bleached, your hair is in good condition, and your hair has warm yellow tones in it, you can use Couleur Experte 8.0 Toasted Coconut. If your hair is a very pale yellow, almost white, you must use a filler to put the warmth back in your hair so you do not discolor. You can get that done at The Salon at Ulta Beauty!

I always loved 7.3 Butterscotch Creme in this product and haven't found a suitable replacement since it was discontinued. Any help on choosing a base color that would give that reddish gold tone and blonde highlights I got with Butterscotch Creme would be very appreciated!

Hi SuSu, we are sorry we discontinued your favorite haircolor! We suggest checking out L'Oréal Excellence Creme 7G Dark Golden Blonde as a base color! You can use L'Oréal Touch-On Highlights in H80 Golden Honey 48 hours after coloring!
