  • Face – Contour, Highlight, Blush!

Three steps – a triple threat. Use contour, blush and highlighter together. It’s a play of shadow and light combined with a pretty flush to create dimension, drawing attention to your best features.

    1. Bronze. Pick a shade that’s one or two shades darker than your natural skin tone. We used the Ulta Beauty Collection Cream Contour Kit, which gives you a range of hues to play with. Brush in long, fluid motions underneath the cheekbones and along the jawline. Then blend out in small circles to erase any harsh lines.

    2. Highlight. A few brushstrokes of well-placed highlighter can sculpt your cheekbones, open up your eyes and give you the look of an all-over glow. Here’s your cheat sheet: Apply on the brow bone, down the bridge of your nose, above your cheekbones and on your cupid’s bow. We used Ulta Beauty Collection Duo Chrome Illuminator in Fairy.

What is duo chrome? Because of its light-catching pearls, a duo chrome formula can appear two different colors, depending on how the light hits.

    3. Blush. Dab rosiness – right on the apples. We’re obsessed with Maybelline Fit Me Blush in Wine. Start soft and build until your cheeks for that perfect just-pinched look.

  • Brows – Quickest Groom Job Ever

With just one tool you can fill, shape and go. Use a tapered pencil with a spoolie on the end. Our must-try: the Ulta Beauty Collection Ultra Slim Brow Pencil.

    1. Line the bottom curve of the brow. Softly fill in the brow with light strokes, making sure to tackle any sparse areas near your nose, where they’re the
    most noticeable.

    2. Flip to the spoolie and lightly brush up. Trick: if you wiggle the spoolie at the root of your hairs you’ll get a softer look.

  • Eyes – Glitter All Grown Up

Sparkle isn’t just child’s play. Get an elevated look with controlled application and liquid metallic formulas.

    1. Use a liquid for your base — it goes on smoother than powders and has a slicker look – ideal for glittered lids. Our fave: Urban Decay Liquid Moondust Eyeshadow in Spacetime, a deep copper. Apply a few short lines on your lid and, using an eyeshadow brush, blend up to your crease. (Psst … quick short strokes work best.)

    2. Tap on the glitter. Go for the gold – again in a liquid formula. We used Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Gold Goddess. Using the applicator, tap a little onto your lid and crease and use your finger to blend in (the heat from your finger makes the glitter stick).

Not ready to go full sparkle? If you prefer something more subtle, dab the gold glitter shadow just on the inner corners of your eyes. A little shimmer right where it counts!

    3. Make a black wing. Black liner defines the eyes and gives your glitter a bit of framework. Make a thin wing using a liquid pen, like Clinique Pretty Easy Liquid Eyelining Pen in Black.

    4. Bronze it below. Line your waterline, too. Go with a smooth formula like Ulta Beauty Collection Gel Eye Liner in Bronze.

    5. Lift those lashes. Get definition and lift with mascara that has tiered bristles. (Also, make small zig-zag motions when applying – it helps!) Our pick: Revlon Dramatic Definition Mascara in Blackest Black.

  • Lips – Berry Ombre

Create an illusion – a ripe lip with a subtle color shift.

    1. Apply a neutral berry base. Set the stage with an even coat of a super-smooth formula like Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Ravenswood.

    2. Make the middle pop. Now add that cherry bomb – dab on a brighter berry liquid formula at the center of your lips. Dab to blend with your fingers. Just at the center for an awesome gradient effect. We used Too Faced Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Bend & Snap.

  • Hair – Holiday Shine

Glossy, polished strands are so in season.

“Great for natural brunettes, gloss adds conditioning and such a nice shine.”

    – Haley Kimble,
Design Team Member, The Salon at Ulta Beauty

Keep up the sleekness and shine at home with a smoothing lotion spray like Redken Frizz Dismiss Smooth Force. Use it on towel-dried hair to lock in moisture, the secret to controlling frizz and keeping your hair manageable for styling. The right hairspray can help, too.

You’ll get a high-gloss finish with a Vitamin B5-enriched formula like Redken Shine Flash 02. It actually illuminates your hair!
