I prefer this over the normal beauty blender. The flat side makes it so easy to put on foundation. Only downside is it stains, so it doesn't look clean after you clean it.

Comments about Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge:

This is an okay sponge. I wasn't extremely impressed with it, but it wasn't bad either. I think that it's almost too squishy. I much prefer the Ulta Beauty sponge, which is a tad firmer. There wasn't anything wrong with it-- I used it until it started to tear-- but I won't go out and but another one. When I cleaned it, it was pretty hard to get all of the soap out of it, though.

I used to buy the beauty blender. But I figured I'd give this one a try since it is significantly less in cost. I will never pay $20 for a beauty blender again. This one works perfect and blends so well!

I️ have heard good things about this beauty blender and decided to give it a try since it was so cheap. If you are looking for a beauty blender under $10 I️ would recommend this one but if you don't mind spending the $20 I️ would highly recommend just going with a real beauty blender. Right away I️ could tell how dense this was. When I️ wet it to apply my liquid foundation it felt very heavy and when I️ started blending out my foundation with it I️ felt that I️ had to do a lot more blending than I️ would with the real beauty blender. It is a good beauty blender for its price but I️ would not purchase it again.

This product did wonders! I was on the fence about buying it, just because I was so use to applying concealer with a brush, but this was worth every penny! It doesn't soak up a ton of product, but it does soak up a bit. In all honesty, this was an amazing product. I don't usually rave about makeup products, but this one is worth the hype. It applied flawlessly and left a nice dewy finish (I go for a matte finish because I have oily skin, but I fix it with powder), and it surprisingly left a full coverage look (but natural) when the brush I used didn't.

                  Hi Stevie,

Great question! So, the sponge is made from polyurethane foam, which cannot usually be recycled, but I would recommend a quick call to your local recycling center. They may allow that type of material to be recycled.

                  Thanks!

                  A:

                  Hi BeachBarbie8,

Great question. For dry skin, always make sure you're moisturized and using a primer that is specifically for dry skin (I have dry skin too, so I know the struggle!).

The best way to get a more natural, dewy look is to do exactly as you listed: wet the sponge and squeeze it to get a lot of the moisture out. As far as how to apply foundation to the sponge, what I like to do is add a bit to the back of my hand, dip the sponge in and apply. Some people dot foundation around their face and use the sponge to blend, and others add directly to the sponge.

I feel like I use less makeup if I apply from the back of my hand, but that's just a personal preference.

                  Thanks.

Asked on 8/3/2017 by Jasmine from San Antonio tx,US

                1 answer

                • Brand Expert

                  A:

                  Hi Jasmine,

There are certain situations where that phrase "you get what you pay for" is true. But I don't think this is one of them. Our Miracle Complexion Sponge is, without a doubt, our most popular item in the Real Techniques line not only because it's affordable, but also because it is high quality.

One of the reasons I would probably recommend going with the Miracle Complexion sponge is its affordability. Because of the porous nature of these sponges, you will want to change it out every 90 days or so, based on how you use it. If it was something you bought once every year, a splurge might be the way to go - but because you will need to replace it pretty often, your wallet might like it better if you went with the Miracle Sponge.

And, you can also buy our Twin Pack Miracle Complexion Sponge and save a few bucks (http://www.ulta.com/miracle-complexion-sponge-set?productId=xlsImpprod12231055) or our Four Pack and save even more (http://www.ulta.com/4-miracle-complexion-sponges?productId=xlsImpprod15361251)!

If you do a search for Beauty Blender vs Miracle Sponge on Google or YouTube, you will probably find a lot of people saying that the Miracle Sponge is the way to go. I tend to agree with them! :)

                  Thanks!

                  Hi Kiyeera,

                  Great question.

After washing, make sure all excess moisture is squeezed out from the sponge. Store it out in the open so it can air dry. I usually place it on my soap dish or on a dry wash cloth. The one thing we do not recommend is to put it in a closed environment where air can't get to it (like a case or a drawer).

Depending on how often you use it, make sure you replace it every 60-90 days.

                  Thanks!

                  Hi Leah,

Good question - and, based on my experience, I'll answer it as best I can, since I do think the Miracle Complexion sponge is very bouncy. :)

The one thing I remind a lot of people of is that these sponges are kind of like cookies - they are made in batches, and sometimes certain batches are slightly softer than others. Overall, I think this item is the most bouncy sponge we make.

                  Hope that helps!

                  Hi Min,

Great question! Depending on how much makeup you use, you should clean the sponge every couple of days, for sure. And make sure you replace it every 30-60 days. For people with sensitive skin, I recommend every 30 days.

I would not use a daily brush cleanser spray on this item since that won't clean as well as an actual shampoo or wash will. What I would recommend is a Brush Shampoo from our sister brand, EcoTools. It's made with more eco-friendly ingredients and doesn't contain certain chemicals that you might find in other cleansers. That item can be found here: http://www.ulta.com/makeup-brush-cleansing-shampoo?productId=xlsImpprod13501085

                  Hope that helps!

I purchased this sponge about a month ago. I really like the feel and coverage it gives. I wear light cream foundation makeup 5-6 days a week, only applying in the mornings. After about a month of use, it is flaky away already. That is exactly why I wanted to get away from the other makeup sponges I've been using for years. They don't last long. Is that a normal amount of lifespan to expect?

                  Hi Kristin,

We do recommend replacing your sponges every 30-60 days, and if you're using it every single day, you probably want to replace it every 30 days. Or use it every other day and on the days you don't use your sponge, use a brush. You might find that that extends the life a little bit.

                  Thanks - hope that helps!
