Comments about Physicians Formula Mineral Face Powder:

I have been using this product every day for the past 3-4 years. It's affordable, silky, and never cakey - always sets my foundation nicely without looking too heavy. I have sometimes over-applied this powder (likely because of my brush) and that has caused it to set into my smile lines. You truly only need one swoop of this around your whole face to get a soft, matte look. I use Watt's Up over it for more definition.

Comments about Physicians Formula Mineral Face Powder:

I have so many liquid foundations, but lately, especially with warmer weather, I have been trying to use less foundation/just powder foundation. I find that it holds up better in the humidity, and it is supposed to be a lot better for your skin, especially this Physicians Formula one. I recently had a bad breakout, and the past 5 days I have used a mixture of this with some of the Tarte Powder Foundation, and I see my skin clearing up with no new spots. I found out about this foundation from some old videos of Tati's on YouTube, and I am so thankful for her recommendation. Also, It is possible to get a higher coverage with this product if you apply it with a damp sponge, as opposed to a brush. I find that it "sticks" to the skin better with sponge application as well. Tati also gave me that idea. I have been starting with moisturizer, Pixi Glowtion, and some Smashbox Primer Water. Then I go in and spot concealing with a full coverage concealer over blemishes and conceal undereyes. Then I sort of "set" the concealer and create a smooth base for the powder foundation with a light layer of Translucent Powder (I use RCMA No Color Powder) all over the face. Then I take my damp EcoTools Sponge and pick up the powder dab, press, and blend onto my face. Then I apply another light layer of either Translucent powder, or a more oil controlling setting powder like Rimmel Stay Matte or CG Outlast Powder, over the Powder Foundation, just to set it and control shine. Then I apply any other powder products (Bronzer, Contour, Blush, Highlight, etc.) Finally, I go over the whole face with a generous amount of setting spray (SB Primer Water, Pixi Glow Mist, Mac Fix +, Milani Make it Last, Catrice Prime and Fine, etc.)to meld the powder into the skin, and create a more natural finish. I find that this routine looks flattering and looks really natural, almost like I am not wearing much product at all. I have been going with the whole "Less is More" approach, using the bare minimum.

Comments about Physicians Formula Mineral Face Powder:

This product is talc-free and nontoxic. This is v. important for me. Buttttt, I have combination skin and about 5 hours after I apply this (to set my foundation), my forehead is shiny. When I blot and reapply this powder, it settles in wrinkles and creases. So, maybe consider this product an A+ if you are not prone to shinyface. :)

Comments about Physicians Formula Mineral Face Powder:

Repurchased during ULTA sale as I've hit pan on my 1st one. I use Translucent shade as setting powder & by itself on days when I don't wear makeup. A brush isn't best way to apply as that creates a mess & wastes product, so I use a round powder sponge for application & pat on lightly. This looks very natural & helps with shine. Physician's Formula makes high quality drugstore makeup.

best powder to set foundation with!!

        By Frenchie

        from Orlando

Comments about Physicians Formula Mineral Face Powder:

Let me start off by saying I'm a complete makeup junkie! I have been using this for years and years! I will never stray again. I tried higher end "setting powders" and they caked my makeup so bad and looked so splotchy and gross! This stuff is the best! I use it everyday! I will never go without this product it's amazing for my oily skin! The brush it comes with is pointless and I don't like how the mirror is on the bottom also because it's a powder if you use a brush with it be careful it does get messy and kick up a lot of powder but the product itself is magic! It gives such a flawless complexion! Highly recommend! Will use this until I die! Lol

Comments about Physicians Formula Mineral Face Powder:

This product isn't for setting foundation. It caked up and slid around on top of my foundation and looked patchy and discolored very quickly after applying. This is almost creamy so would probably suit dry skin better as a powder foundation on its own.

I normally buy this brand in the loose powder but, the local store did not have my color. I like the pressed powder better. It helps control the amount on the brush.
