Carol Shaw - The Red Carpet Authority

With a hairstylist father and a manicurist mother, LORAC creator, Carol Shaw was born into the beauty business. A makeover at a Beverly Hills salon changed not only her look, but her life. "I'll never forget how incredible those makeup artists made me feel. I walked in an awkward teenager, and walked out feeling like a movie star!" says Shaw, who left that day realizing she wanted to be a makeup artist.

Carol Shaw got her start at a posh L.A. salon, eventually moving into the world of fashion, where she made a name for herself working with famous photographers such as Herb Ritts, Annie Leibovitz and Patrick Demarchelier, and supermodels like Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer. Her work has appeared on the covers of Vogue, Vanity Fair, Glamour, Allure and many other magazines. Shaw now works regularly with the most famous faces walking down the Red Carpet, booking up to a year in advance. Her clients include Nicole Kidman, Debra Messing, and Teri Hatcher, to name a few.

LORAC was launched in 1995. "I began to notice that most of my clients had the same grievances about cosmetics as I did," Shaw says, "too many products irritated their skin, looked and felt artificial, and simply didn't last."
