I absolutely LOVE this brand& this specific curling iron! I had my first one in 2007& the wires ended up coming exposed recently, (2016). The product does last a long time! I have Curly Q's& thick hair but it makes my hair turn out awesome!

Comments about Hot Tools Gold Curling Iron:

I have shoulder length hair and have been looking for something to provide me in between sized curls. I always used a wand but after cutting my hair it became difficult to wrap without loosing pieces, so the clamp of a curling iron is a big help in getting the back and layers underneath. I have thick hair so it takes some time to do my whole head but works more efficiently than other products. I went through lots of different brands and sizes and this was the first to meet my expectations. Seems to work best after I let it heat for 10min. I use it as an iron underneath and a wand on the top layers so I love the versatility!

I have been very loyal to the hot tools brand but I was disappointed when I purchased my recent curling iron. It does not glide through my hair like it did before, I cannot curl my hair as fast as I could before.

                      • Q:

I have long hair (past my shoulder blades) and have used and love the 1 1/4" iron. I would love long lasting, looser, bigger, sexier curls. What size of iron would help me achieve this look? My hair texture is medium--not thick nor thin overall wavy with a slight curl. Thanks in advance!!

                          A:

Either would work well for you. The difference is the material of each -

CeramicTI Tourmaline (purple) - Ceramic Tourmaline surface with titanium additive emits gentle far-infrared heat and negative ions to increase hydration and shine while reducing frizz.

24K gold plated (gold) - Even heat distribution create long-lasting curls and waves leaving hair looking smooth and glossy.

NanoCeramic (black & white) - NanoCeramic barrel creates an ultra smooth surface for frizz-free styles.

Either the 1-1/2 in. or the 1-1/4 in. barrel model would be ideal for you! This larger size barrel works best for longer hair lengths and will give you gorgeous curls and waves.

We list the temperature to use on fragile hair to be 280 degrees and normal hair 330 degrees. So in your case, it would be anywhere between 280 to 300. Try the lowest temperature first and raise as needed.
