Comments about Redken Frizz Dismiss Sulfate-Free Shampoo:

I picked the wrong combo entirely with Redken's Frizz Dismiss Shampoo and Conditioner. I have dry, curly, low-porosity, frizzy red hair. If I lived in a different climate, Frizz Dismiss might be a little more effective for me, but I live in the Arizona desert, where humidity is the least of my hair problems. For my hair, it's the dryness that causes frizz, and my hair actually craves moisture in order to have some weight to form curls. This left my hair so dried out, the ends actually felt dry when I was rinsing my hair. My hair wound up in awful tangles, and there was defintiely breakage. When my hair dried, I looked like a 1980's metal band relic. I was thinking Frizz Dismiss might be like Ouidad's anti-humidity line, but it's nothing like it at all. It's not really fair for me to complain about this product formulation, because I believe it's probably excellent if you have normal-oily hair that's negatively affected by humidity. I can't speak for all those with curly hair, of course, but I can say that this is nothing like any curly hair formulated product I've ever used. I love the smell. If you have dry hair, try before you buy!

how does this line work for thin AND frizzy hair?

                  • Brand Expert

                    A:

Redken Frizz Dismiss Sulfate-Free Shampoo is intended for all hair types that have an issue with frizz, including fine, thin hair. Because your hair is thin, make sure to rinse the product well to maintain a light weight finish.

When using the Frizz Dismiss Conditioner on fine or thin hair, I recommend applying primarily to the lengths and ends, avoiding the scalp and root. This will provide frizz protection without the weight.

All Soft products are formulated to deliver softness, suppleness and shine to dry brittle hair. Frizz Dismiss products provide humidity protection and smoothness for all hair types.

I have used sulfate free for years, and it doesn't lather. Why does this product have one of the "pro's " being a great lather?

                    A:

Redken Frizz Dismiss Sulfate-Free Shampoo does in fact provide a luxurious lather, free of sulfates.
You are correct that many sulfate-free shampoos do not lather (sulfates are the component of tradition shampoos that provide a lather).

How does this product differ from Redken All Soft? Do they basically produce the same results? I have a particularly stubborn area of frizz, from root to ends, don't shampoo daily and limit use of flat iron and blow drying.

                  • Brand Expert

                    A:

Redken Frizz Dismiss Sulfate-Free Shampoo is a fabulous shampoo for protection against humidity induced frizz. If your frizz is a result of humidity, then this shampoo will work wonders in your hair.

However, if your hair is frizzy because it is dry or brittle, you will get better results from Redken All Soft Shampoo. All Soft controls frizz due to dry brittle hair. It softens the hair, leaving it shiny, soft and supple.

                    A:

You can certainly try Redken Frizz Dismiss Sulfate-Free Shampoo which is formulated for all hair types. We also suggest regular trims to alleviate and reduce the appearance of your dry, frizzy ends. You can also try reducing the number of times you shampoo your hair throughout the week to help balance the oil production at the scalp. For example if shampooing 7 times a week, reduce to 4x a week or every other day. This will allow the scalp to regulate oil production, and reduce the "oiliness" you are experiencing. In between shampoos, use Redken Pillow Proof blow dry two day extender oil absorbing dry shampoo to absorb any excess oils and refresh the hair. Also, naturally wavy/curly hair has a tendency towards the condition you describe. If this is your hair type, then moisture is key. Avoid over-cleansing your hair, and incorporate the use of deep conditioners on regular basis to address the needs of dry/frizzy ends.

It depends on what your primary concern is. If your main hair care concern is to combat humidity, eliminate frizz, and smooth hair, we recommend the Frizz Dismiss product line. If your primary hair care concern is to repair and strengthen damaged, distressed, and/or over-processed hair, we recommend using the Extreme product line.
