Comments about Real Techniques Foundation Brush:

I had one of these brushes that I used to apply liquid foundation. However, I bought a second one for the purpose of applying a facial mask. It works really well to spread the mask where I want it to go. The mask product washes out easily and the brush dries and is ready to use again 2 or 3 days later. I actually think it is better suited to this task than for applying foundation. I plan to give one of these brushes and a jar of facial mask to my daughter as one of her Christmas presents.

It says foundation brush but I actually use it to stamp extra powder near my eyes to catch eyeshadow fallout. The shape it perfect for this! It's angle allows me to stamp the powder in the perfect angled direction so the shadow applies in a winged out shape.

I bought this in store as a cheaper alternative to a foundation brush that had been used minutes prior to match me with a new foundation. I just couldn't bring myself to spend the $35. This was a cheaper alternative, cute, and it definitely works.

                          Hi Debbie,

Oh, that is an awesome question with so many amazing answers! It really all comes down to what you like best - which is what is so fun about using our Real Techniques brushes!

This is a great brush to use for a foundation like Bare Minerals Gel Cream Foundation, and this brush is actually made for creams and mousses. I use this brush when I want a bit more of an airbrushed look and full coverage.

If you want a lighter application, I would recommend either our Expert Face Brush (Ulta item 2244502), the Buffing Brush that is in our Core Collection (Ulta Item 2229998) - this one is my absolute favorite brush that we made, or our #1 selling item, the Miracle Complexion Sponge (Ulta item 2265607). I think any one of these would be perfect for getting that natural finish.

                          Thanks!

Which is better for liquid foundation, the foundation brush or the expert face brush? What is the difference between the two?

                          A:

The Expert Face Brush Item #: 2244502 is for a lighter application of foundation and/or powder. The densely cut bristles and use of a "buffing" motion really push the foundation into the skin, leaving lighter coverage overall.

The angled cut of the Foundation Brush allows you not only to really get into the crevices of your skin, but it enables you to build the coverage that you need. The sweeping application also provides for more coverage than the Expert Face Brush since this brush wouldn't be used to buff the foundation/powder into the skin. Overall, this allows for more precise application of your foundations or powders.

Either brush can be used with liquid formulas!

                          A:

There are several differences between the two foundation brushes. The brush that is sold on its own has a different bristle cut than the one in the Core Collection. This individually sold brush is cut on a bias, while the Core Collection brush is more tapered. Both allow you to reach the crevices in your face (around your nose, under your eyes, etc.) for maximum coverage. The individual brush has more bristles overall, which allows greater pick up and application of product. In terms of similarities, both brushes are made from the same cruelty-free bristles and both have the no-shed qualities that Real Techniques is known for!
