Comments about L'Oréal Feria Smokey Pastels:

I used 3 colors and did my hair in sections. I am naturally light blonde. The pink didn't take, the blue turned my hair a dusty grey and the purple is kind of a dingy lavender grey. Not pretty at all.

Comments about L'Oréal Feria Smokey Pastels:

I do my own hair (bleaching and coloring. My hair is mostly gray and I've been using the pink now for a few years because I want to have fun at my age and I get so many compliments every time I do the color and it fades out very nicely and still looks pretty good for a long time. Every now and then I'll also do the smokey Lavender just to mix it up. I think the key to making the color look good, is to leave it on for a long time and I also put a cap on top. It's not a fast process so make it a beauty night with a mask, popcorn and a good movie!

Comments about L'Oréal Feria Smokey Pastels:

I bleached my black hair twice to a brassy light blonde highlights and was using a pink temporary color on top to make it "rose gold" but in reality it was ugly and I hated it so I bought this in the shade lavender as a toner and I actually love it. It made the darker brassy parts a nice brunette and the lighter parts greyish. So overall I'm really happy but I don't know about using it on platinum blonde hair.

Comments about L'Oréal Feria Smokey Pastels:

I alternate between the violet and the pink. They are really pretty with you first do them but I love it when it starts fading. I think the key it to lighten your hair as light as you can and then honestly...when you do the color but a cap on top and let it sit for at least an hour. Just let it sit. You will get the most gorgeous color but also, don't wash it too much because the color does fade and use the appropriate shampoo for color. I get a ton of compliements on my hair. it looks really pretty when it fades and since my hair is grey underneath it looks very chic with a bit of color. I try to wash my hair as little as possible to keep the color but once it fades I can let it go for a long time before I recolor.

Comments about L'Oréal Feria Smokey Pastels:

I would recommend bleaching your hair to as close to white as possible, since the dye is a light shade. I used Splat Bleaching Kit and it only took about 10 minutes to lift my dark blue permanent color out. Be thorough! If you have thin/thinning hair, the light hue keeps patchy spots from being noticeable. If you have naturally dark hair, remember that you will have to bleach your roots (which will be very obvious) every time you apply this color. A darker purple might be a better choice so you don't fry your roots/scalp. I have a short haircut and my natural color is medium blonde--I can apply this without re-bleaching. I would guess this to be rather high-maintenance on longer hair or darker hair.

Comments about L'Oréal Feria Smokey Pastels:

I am 3/4 gray. I'm tired of trying to pull off brown with that skunk stripe every three weeks regrowth. I am a young old lady. This color is subtle and fun, but glows nicely in sunlight
. If your hair is porous, use a filler first. Test the timing. It takes me a ten on roots to five on the rest. My hair is thirsty so I use a trick my colorist taught me. Mix a bit color into the conditioner and run through the rest after he roots got the initial 10 min. Leave on about 5 min and rinse all out. This way not too much color gets sucked into the shaft. But I LIKE the pale lavender I get from his application. If you want shock purple there are kits that promise a less subtle look.

Comments about L'Oréal Feria Smokey Pastels:

Why can't I give no stars? I seriously walked around the store contemplating even buying but my daughter kept saying this was the exact color she wanted on the front of the box which is gorgeous. Left it on longer and it still barely managed to color into a rose gold. Wasn't going for that color. Wish there was some way I could return.

Worst Dye I Have Ever Used

          By Layton

          from Clarkston

Comments about L'Oréal Feria Smokey Pastels:

I've dyed my hair multiple times at home, so I know what I'm doing. I've always used the Schwarzkopf brand, but I decided a lighter color would be fun, so I had to look for a different brand. So I found this. I followed all the instructions, lightened my hair, everything, and you know what this dye did? Absolutely nothing. It is ridiculous that I wasted my money on a product that doesn't even work. It didnt even give my hair any sort of color change - nothing happened! Don't buy this. You're just going to get disappointed.

Hi Panda! This shade will result in a blue color more so than a grey color. On Blonde colored hair, if there are any very light pieces, you will get a brighter blue than on the darker pieces. We hope this helps!

I did the lightening step of using this product. Hair went from light brown to bright orange (apparently didn't leave the bleach on long enough). What color will I end up with if I proceed to use the lavender? And if I use blue will it counter my orange hair like a toner would and I would end up with a lighter brown?

We do not recommend using any of our Feria Smokey Pastel shades on orange hair. We are not sure what your result would be. You can bleach again in 2 weeks to finish the lightening process. If you would like to go back to a light brown, you can color in 2 weeks with Feria 60 Crystal Brown.

To get the soft, smokey blue pictured on the box for the P1 its recommended to use this shade on hair that's natural light blonde or hair that has been bleached to a light blonde. Darker hair will not see the same results.
