Comments about EcoTools Essentials 6 PC Eye Brush Set:

This is a really convenient traveling brush case. I used it with a color correcting pallet but the brush does leave some streaks which can be easily fixed with a beauty blender. And the brush holds on to a lot of product which causes you to waist product.

Good, basic brush set for eyes!

Comments about EcoTools Essentials 6 PC Eye Brush Set:

I bought this set when I started learning more about eyeshadow techniques, and realized that I needed more than the one sad little brush that I owned. I've purchased a few, more expensive brushes since that time, but these five brushes are still in daily use. Yes, the large eyeshadow brush is big, but I find it useful for putting down a base color on my lid and up into the crease. The angled brush is a bit too big for placing shadow, but is good for blending shadow in the crease. I use the petite shading brush to apply setting powder over my undereye concealer. The highlighting brush is a perfect size for browbone and inner corner. I use the smudge brush to apply eyeshadow as liner on upper and lower lash line. Great value!

Comments about EcoTools Essentials 6 PC Eye Brush Set:

Honestly, the picture in this shows like these would be great blending brushes, it is wrong. The shader brush is HUGE so it would never fit on your eye to actually do something. The "blending" brush is so so so small it might be used as an inner corner highlight brush or to smudge out the lower lash line. The two smaller "blending" brushes are so ridiculously small I have no idea what you would use them for, maybe liner brushes. The slanted brush I will use as a nose contour because it is too big to even fit on your eyelid. This picture shows these brushes as decent but it's a gimmick. Totally a waste of money.

I'm relatively new to makeup so I make a point not to spend exorbitant amounts of money on products I'm not sure I'll like. I wanted an inexpensive brush set to try out and I think this one is perfect for newbies like me or people who travel often. The included case is so convenient; I used it on my trip to Seattle earlier this year and it fit all the brushes, an Urban Decay primer tube, and three medium-sized eyeliners without a problem. The bristles are really soft, apply product well, and are good at building coverage. I have some longer-handled brushes but this set is still my favorite and will be for a long time.

                          HI there,

So, our brushes are made from very high quality ingredients, including the glue that holds the bristles together, so you should not experience any shedding or heads falling off. Even though our prices are affordable, the brushes aren't cheap (like others that are out there).

In terms of how to use each brush:

Use the large eye brush to blend a base shadow over the entire eyelid.
The angled crease brush adds definition to the outer crease of your eye, while the petite eye shading brush is perfect for an accent color.
Use the highlighting brush to accentuate the brow bone and inner corners of the eye.
Complete the look with the smudge brush by smudging the shadow and liner along the lash line for a smokey finish.

                          Thanks!

                          Hi Kalhoon,

It definitely all depends on how much you use your brushes, but if you are using regularly, I would try to clean them once every 1-2 weeks.

EcoTools makes an amazing Brush Shampoo that has eco-friendly ingredients and is pretty free of harsher chemicals. You can find that here: http://www.ulta.com/makeup-brush-cleansing-shampoo?productId=xlsImpprod13501085

One thing I love, though, with eye brushes, is to wipe them after each use with a Cleansing Cloth. This is a great, quick way to eliminate residual shadow and have it ready for use again before your weekly/bi-monthly clean. We also make these cleansing wipes, found here: http://www.ulta.com/makeup-brush-cleansing-cloths?productId=xlsImpprod13731033

                          Thanks!

                          Hi ladybug,

I love doing that too - or enhancing my eye liner pencil with some shadow to smudge it. In this kit, there are two brushes with very small bristle brush heads that would probably work very well for using eye shadow as eyeliner (one is called Petite Eye Shading, the other is called Smudge Brush).

                          Hope that helps!

The Eye Set you were asking about is just for eyes - and it's an awesome kit. The one that I'm recommending has great brushes for each part of your face.

                          Hi Little Star,

Thanks for your question. This set contains the following brushes:

                          Large eye brush
                          Angled crease brush
                          Petite eye shading brush
                          Highlighting brush
                          Smudge brush

If you're looking at the kit on Ulta's website (http://www.ulta.com/essentials-6-pc-eye-brush-set?productId=xlsImpprod1620045), from left to right, the brushes (and their uses are):

Large Eye - sweep on a light shade all over the lid
Angled Crease - use with a darker shade and blend on the outer crease of the eye to enhance the eyes
Petite Eye Shading - add a dark shadow at the edge of the eye to add a dark accent at the edge of the eye
Smudge - Precisely blend out the shadow by using swiping motions towards in inner part of the eye lid to complete the smokey effect
Highlighting/Ultra Fine Eyeliner - Finish your look with this brush and your favorite cream or gel liner to create a wing for a polished look

This set also comes with a cosmetic bag to store these brushes.

                          Hope that helps!

                          Hi xoem,

Yes, this bag is made from 70% PRC, which is post-consumer recyclable content.

                          Thanks.

Are the bristles soft? And how well do they pick up product?

                          Hi Vicki,

Thanks for your question! One of the things people love so much about our EcoTools brushes is that they are so unbelievably soft ... and the Essential Eye Set is no different. The bristles are so very soft, and they are cut specifically for eye shadow/product application, so you will find that each brush will be tailored for its own use.

Also, because the bristles are synthetic, product doesn't soak into the bristle like it does with a natural-hair brush, which means you get more of the product on your eyes than you do staying in your brush bristles. Not to mention, synthetic bristles are cruelty-free!

                          Hope that helps!
