Great mask for Acne-prone skin

About Me Budget Buyer

Pros

  • Decreaes pimple size
  • Decreased oil production
  • Reduces pore size

Cons

  • Bad Smell

Best Uses

  • Acne-Prone Skin
  • Oily Skin

Comments about Mario Badescu Drying Mask:

Yes it smells bad, but it's the active ingredients like sulfur. Bought a .5 Oz sample size and it has lasted me 8-10 uses on my entire face. Definitely reduces the sizes of pimples by the next day. Leaves skin smooth and matte. I use about 1-2 times a week before bed. Significant decrease in oil production the next day and slightly less the following day.

      Good spot treatment

      By Audrey

      from Stillwater, OK

Comments about Mario Badescu Drying Mask:

I have dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin, so I bought this to use as a spot treatment, hoping the kaolin would shrink some pimples before I was a bridesmaid in a wedding, and the sulfur would help with some bacteria. I applied it to unwashed skin, left it on for about 20 min, rinsed off, and then washed with normal facial cleanser. I didn't experience any extra dryness, but I was careful only to apply it to pimples.

I used it last week on Tuesday, and it shrank the pimples I applied it to significantly (both whiteheads and papules). Redness was reduced also. These results lasted several days: it is now Monday, and a few of the pimples have returned in smaller versions, but not all of them, which is way more than I expected - I figured it would just shrink them temporarily for a day or two, like other clay masks.

It smells like tires when you open the container, but I don't find it too bothersome on my face, and it leaves a slight sulfur scent when washed off your skin. It's much easier to use than the masks where you have to add your own water, and it washes off much more easily than any other clay mask I've used. I will keep using it as an occasional spot treatment.

      Oil control!

      By Liz

      from San Diego, CA

      Pros

      • Effectiveness

      Cons

      • Smell

      Best Uses

Comments about Mario Badescu Drying Mask:

This product has definitely helped in controlling my acne-prone skin. I used it 3-4 times a week when I first purchased it, because I had a significant amount of acne. Since then, my acne is much more controlled and now I only use it 1-2 times a week. The only downside is that it doesn't smell that great, otherwise I would recommend this product for anyone with oily, acne covered skin!

        Smells HORRID!

        By Andrea

        Verified Reviewer

Comments about Mario Badescu Drying Mask:

I was so excited to try this drying mask, especially on areas where I have breakouts. However, the mask smells SO awful that I can't even stand to have it on my face! I have only used it as a SPOT TREATMENT, so have used a very small amount, and I still have to wash it off immediately. The smell doesn't go away once it dries either. Wish I could get my money back. One of the worst skin care products I've ever used.

        By Ree Ree

        from TN

Comments about Mario Badescu Drying Mask:

My daughter has only used this twice so far, so can't really tell if it helps with her acne and oily skin. The smell is terrible!! It smells like kerosene. After she washes it off of her face you can still smell it.

Will this mask help with milia on my forehead?

            • Brand Expert

              A:

The Drying Mask should be used 2-3 times a week to help clear problematic skin. Should you only be experiencing skin issues on your forehead, you can apply the mask only to that area.

          • Q:

Hi, is this product more effective than the drying cream? Which one works faster and better?
Asked on 5/29/2016 by Dalia from New Haven, CT

            1 answer

            • Brand Expert

              A:

It depends on the type and severity of your breakouts. The Drying Mask is extremely effective as an all over treatment to help shrink and dry out blemishes - and is great for wide-spread problems. Drying Cream is a spot treatment that is not rinsed off. We recommend that Drying Cream be applied sparingly to small patches of under-the-surface bumps.

The instructions say it is best when used as a companion product to Mario Badescu's Healing & Soothing Mask. Do you recommend using the Healing & Soothing mask immediately after/the same day as the Drying Mask (to moisturize after 'drying')? Or would you recommend doing these masks on different days?

              A:

For best results, we recommend using the Drying Mask one day and using the Healing & Soothing Mask the following the day. You can repeat this pattern as necessary.

Mario Badescu Drying Mask is recommended to help dry out pimples and oil and to help clarify problematic, acne-prone skin. Mario Badescu Special Mask for Oily Skin is recommended to rebalance oily skin and control oil buildup that leads to clogged pores.
