Comments about Real Techniques Core Collection Brush Set:

I generally really love Real Technique brushes, but I did not like the brushes in this set. The brushes were not as dense as I expected them to be and they made my foundation and concealer come out streaky. It was difficult to blend my foundation with the buffing brush because my foundation would come out streaky and not blended. I would not recommend buying these brushes because I was really disappointed with the quality.

These brushes are really soft and good quality. Infinitely better than the Elf brushes I was using. I wish this set had come with a big fluffy brush, and I really only use the contour brush and the buffer brush, but all in all they are great quality for such a good price.

I kept my eye on this for months and i'm happy I bought it! The only thing that i hate about real techniques brushes is that they dont sell them seperately :( i dont like or use the smallest brush or the foundation brush but i LOVE the other two fluffy brushes. Amazing for powder, bronzer and under eye concealer buffing. I use the largest for blending my cream contour... now my holy grail brush!

I had a beauty demo and the girl used this brush for the liquid foundation. It was short and close together bristles she said it was different from a blush brush. I forget the name of the brush and was wondering if it was included in this kit.

                    Hi C-Ludite,

You may be referring to either a Kabuki brush or a Buffing Brush, Both of those have shorter bristles that are densely packed. The Kabuki brush (which is here - http://www.ulta.com/retractable-kabuki-brush?productId=xlsImpprod6330143&sku=2269621&_requestid=189650) is better for finishing powder and can also be used for contouring and blush. You could use it for liquid foundation as well, but I would probably recommend the Buffing Brush for that.

The Buffing Brush is available in this kit and it is one of my favorite foundation brushes of all time. The length and cut of the bristles just seem to be perfect for applying and blending.

                    Hope that helps!

What are the differences and similarities between the contour brush in this collection and the setting brush that is sold separately?

                    A:

                    Hi April,

Such a great question! The Setting Brush that is sold separately has a smaller brush head overall, and the bristle length is a bit shorter. This is going to give you precision when applying product to create contour lines and highlight. The Setting Brush is also one of our most multi-functional brushes. Not only can you use it for contour and highlight, but it's also amazing as a concealer brush for larger areas (whether blemishes, discolorations or under eye) and you can use it through your eye socket to blend eye shadows - it's fabulous.

The contour brush that comes in our Core Collection has more bristles overall and the bristles overall are longer than the Setting Brush. This is going to give you a bit less precision (which is sometimes a good thing when you're new to a certain technique), but it does blend so wonderfully!

Overall, I would be hard pressed to choose which one is my favorite! :) I hope this info helps!

                    Hi Tabi,

This is one of our most popular kits and actually contains my most favorite brush of all: the Buffing Brush. The great thing is that these brushes work so well on most foundation types. I think you will find that they do well with mineral foundation too.

                    Hi Leila,

When you're looking at the brushes in this kit, the one with the largest and fluffiest head is the Buffing Brush. The one that is a bit smaller and not quite as "fluffy" is the contouring brush. The one that has longer, more pointed bristles is the pointed foundation and the one with the smallest brush head is the detailer brush.

                    Thanks!

                    A:

Hi Clueless (you are definitely not clueless, btw - that's a great question you asked!!) :)

The Core Collection is one my my all time favorites overall, but it also has my most favorite brush ever in it (the Buffing Brush), so I love talking about this set!

The smallest brush in the Core Collection is the Detailer Brush. Taking the description from Ulta.com, this brush is precision cut to effortlessly conceal problem areas; or, use with lipstick for long-lasting shape and definition

The brush that is flat and pointy is the Pointed Foundation Brush. You can use this one with liquid foundation to build custom coverage

The brush with the biggest head is the Buffing brush. This one is my favorite. It's perfect for cream or powder foundations and to get that full coverage look. It's also one of the best blending brushes around.

Finally, the brush that is fluffy, but slightly smaller than the Buffing Brush is the Contour Brush. This one is perfect for applying highlighter to contour or create sheer, soft-focus finish.

                    Hope that helps!

                    Hi there,

Thanks so much for your question about the Buffing Brush in the Core Collection. I have to tell you that this brush is actually my personal favorite and I absolutely can't live without it.

It's a lovely, soft brush with a full bristle head that is perfect for buffing liquid or pressed liquid foundation. You will want to make sure your skin is fully moisturized before applying any product or using any brush. That will help with areas that are dry.

What I do when using this brush to apply foundation is to dab a small amount on the brush and start on the area of my face with the largest "surface area" (my cheeks). I use a slow and even buffing motion, working the brush to all areas that need coverage. You don't want to press too hard (which you won't need to since the brush is perfectly designed to hold product in the bristles & transfer flawlessly to your face). You also don't want to go too fast since that may irritate sensitive skin.

I think you will find that the softness of the bristles will work very well for you!

Thanks so much and let me know if you have any other questions!

                    A:

The Buffing Brush is not sold individually. The most similar brush that is sold individually is the Expert Face Brush:
                    http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod4260015&skuId=2244502

The bristles are just as dense and will allow for great pickup/application, and it is meant to be used in the same way as the Buffing Brush in terms of applying product on your face. The difference is that the length of the bristles is much shorter. That allows more targeted application and slightly more coverage.

Additionally, the new Bold Metals Flat Contour Brush has a secondary use as a foundation brush:
                    http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod11831013&skuId=2283104

It, too, has denser, shorter bristles, but the quality of the bristles on this brush is second to none! Additionally, the weighted handle allows for more control, leading to flawless looking skin.

We hope this extra info helps! :-)
