Comments about Real Techniques Core Collection Brush Set:

I like that the brushes can be used in multiple ways. I like the pointed foundation brush with powder to bake under they eye as it is more precise. The concealer brush is a favorite of mine to use when applying an inner tear duct highlight and even smudging the waterline.

Comments about Real Techniques Core Collection Brush Set:

I personally love and use every brush in this set. I use the "detailer brush" to apply highlight underneath my brow bone. I use the "pointed foundation brush" to apply my powder highlighter (Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips) to my cheekbone. It fits perfectly into the Shimmer Strips and applies a nice vibrant highlight to my cheekbone without wasting any product like some other brushes I have used. I use the "buffing brush" for my loose powder to set my face with after I apply my liquid foundation, etc. For my foundation brush I actually use Real Techniques "Sculpting Brush" that is sold separately. It is the perfect foundation brush and works WAY better than Real Techniques "Expert Face Brush" in my opinion. And lastly, I use the "contour brush" for applying blush. I find that I like the look of my blush better when I use this vs. the Real Techniques "Blush Brush" that is a little too big for my face. Definitely a steal to buy and a great quality set!!

                      A:

Hi Clueless (you are definitely not clueless, btw - that's a great question you asked!!) :)

The Core Collection is one my my all time favorites overall, but it also has my most favorite brush ever in it (the Buffing Brush), so I love talking about this set!

The smallest brush in the Core Collection is the Detailer Brush. Taking the description from Ulta.com, this brush is precision cut to effortlessly conceal problem areas; or, use with lipstick for long-lasting shape and definition

The brush that is flat and pointy is the Pointed Foundation Brush. You can use this one with liquid foundation to build custom coverage

The brush with the biggest head is the Buffing brush. This one is my favorite. It's perfect for cream or powder foundations and to get that full coverage look. It's also one of the best blending brushes around.

Finally, the brush that is fluffy, but slightly smaller than the Buffing Brush is the Contour Brush. This one is perfect for applying highlighter to contour or create sheer, soft-focus finish.

                      Hope that helps!

                      A:

                      Hi there,

Thanks so much for your question about the Buffing Brush in the Core Collection. I have to tell you that this brush is actually my personal favorite and I absolutely can't live without it.

It's a lovely, soft brush with a full bristle head that is perfect for buffing liquid or pressed liquid foundation. You will want to make sure your skin is fully moisturized before applying any product or using any brush. That will help with areas that are dry.

What I do when using this brush to apply foundation is to dab a small amount on the brush and start on the area of my face with the largest "surface area" (my cheeks). I use a slow and even buffing motion, working the brush to all areas that need coverage. You don't want to press too hard (which you won't need to since the brush is perfectly designed to hold product in the bristles & transfer flawlessly to your face). You also don't want to go too fast since that may irritate sensitive skin.

I think you will find that the softness of the bristles will work very well for you!

Thanks so much and let me know if you have any other questions!

                      A:

The Buffing Brush is not sold individually. The most similar brush that is sold individually is the Expert Face Brush:
                      http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod4260015&skuId=2244502

The bristles are just as dense and will allow for great pickup/application, and it is meant to be used in the same way as the Buffing Brush in terms of applying product on your face. The difference is that the length of the bristles is much shorter. That allows more targeted application and slightly more coverage.

Additionally, the new Bold Metals Flat Contour Brush has a secondary use as a foundation brush:
                      http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod11831013&skuId=2283104

It, too, has denser, shorter bristles, but the quality of the bristles on this brush is second to none! Additionally, the weighted handle allows for more control, leading to flawless looking skin.

We hope this extra info helps! :-)

At its widest point, the diameter of the Pointed Foundation Brush is just over 1.25".

The Detailer Brush is perfect for concealer application. Use the Contour Brush within this set to perfectly apply blush.
