Thankfully they still make curling irons not just wands, easy to use and I don't need to worry about my girls burning themselves trying to curl their hair. Little pricey but hair looks healthy afterwards!

Comments about Hot Tools CeramicTI Tourmaline Curling Iron:

I've had 2 Hot Tools and in my option they are junk. The first one just flat out stopped heating up. Since it was a gift I exchanged it for another one. Now this one, which Ive for less than a year, has a shortage in the heating element. It heats and cools randomly while I'm doing my hair. Also the protective piece on the barrel has broken so I have to use a towel in order to open and close the clamp otherwise I'll burn my thumb.

The saying is true. You get what you pay for.

No, it does not have an auto shut off. Since our tools are designed with the Professional stylist in mind, we make sure that it's on when it is needed and doesn't shut off automatically.

                    • Q:

I have very fine, thin, color treated hair that has some heat damage. My hair is maybe two inches below my shoulders. I've had trouble finding a curling iron that will hold curl in my hair without completely frying it (I'm careful). I wanted to know if the tourmaline (purple) or the Nanoceramic curling iron would be better for my hair. Also, which size barrel should I get for large but defined curls?

                      • Brand Expert

                        A:

If you have fine, color treated hair you will want to use either the ceramic tourmaline (purple barrel) or Nano-ceramic (Black and White) because Ceramic can be gentler on the hair because they heat the hair follicle from the inside out rather than applying heat from the outside. Remember that heat is damaging to one's hair and you'll look to have the least amount of heat that still will curl/style the hair effectively. Try it first at < 300 degrees to see how effective it is at that temperature. We recommend based on your hair length that you try the 1" or even 1 1/4" to get large defined curls.

                    • Q:

Do all (nanoceramic, ceramic tourmaline, and gold plated) curling irons have the same results of curls? I have thin, long, but not a lot of hair. Curls don't last on my hair, so I would like to buy one that has long lasting, but as well and smooth and shiny curls.

                        A:

Honestly they do have the same results. All of it is dependent upon the temperature of the iron and the texture of your hair. We'd suggest using a hold spray to help the curls last on your hair. The gold curling irons are the industry standard and are in use by more stylists than any other curling irons. We suggest you start there unless your hair is damaged by heat or chemicals now, if which case we'd suggest you try the NanoCeramic curling irons.

The difference is that the white and black curling iron is NanoCeramic, which is just a finer grade of ceramic. Yes, replacement springs may be ordered directly from Hot Tools. Their contact info can be found within the product manual that comes with this curling iron.
