I switched out my high concentrate benzoyle peroxide to use this while i'm pregnant. So far, (a few weeks of use) my skin has not gotten any worse and it is a lot more hydrated. I would recommend this to anyone suffering with adult acne like cystic acne. It doesn't dry out my skin like the peroxide did, and that is a huge plus.

        Comments about Dermalogica Breakout Control:

I bought this after applying a $2.99 pore cleansing charcoal mask and breaking out in the worst case of acne I have ever had. I have had breakouts for most of my life, but never experienced regular acne until after menopause. I have a patch of acne that appears on one cheek consistently --things would work for awhile...them, bam...it was back. I purchased a travel sized Skin Clearing Wash and this product to clear up the debacle of the cheapo mask (never again!) --I have been using Age Smart products that I love, and figured if anyone could save me, it was Dermalogica. Within a few days, the blemishes had dried up, and no new acne had appeared. I have had some cystic acne in the past--since I started using this product - ZERO cystic acne! I now follow the following regime, and it works well for me - At night: Pre-Cleanse and Skin Resurfacing Cleanser most nights--Pre-Cleanse and Daily Microfoliant twice per week. I put on the Breakout Control on my problem areas, then when dry, use Intensive Moisture Balance. In the morning-- I rinse my face and apply more moisturizer. My skin is clearer than it has been in a long time.

          Comments about Dermalogica Breakout Control:

this gentle yet effective as long as you are not an extreme acne sufferer- its in the name "breakout control" its for new and more occassional type breakouts, its non drying which is better for some people. i use it on patches that crop up on my chin or forehead (but not usually when my whole face is breaking out) so if you need something more powerful go with overnight clearing gel or special clearing booster

The product itself is great. I have hormonal adult acne and it really helps in reducing the number of blemishes. However, the amount of product you get for such a high price tag is ridiculous. I use it day and night. It only lasted about a month and some change before having to purchase again.

I recently purchased it upon recommendation from one of the girls at my Ulta and ever since I started using it my skin has broke out and I was wondering if this was normal? Please help!

                  Hello Ade:

Thank you for your interest in Dermalogica. If your skin is more on the oily side we recommend using the clearing mattifier because it will help to control shine, clear breakouts and reduce congestion. It may be used as a primer as well. It is used underneath your moisturizer. It contains one of the same ingredients of the Medicated Clearing Gel, Salicylic Acid. The Breakout Control helps to clear and prevent breakouts without over-drying the skin. It contains natural antibacterial agents, including Lactobacillus Ferment to help clear the skin.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

                  Hello Jay:

Thank you for your interest in Dermalogica. If you would like to incorporate additional products into your skin care routine please use as follows. For Overnight Clearing Gel, use at night time with out a moisturizer on top. Overnight Clearing Gel helps to prevent future breakouts by removing impaction plugs, reducing inflammation and will help regulate oil production. If you would like to use the Breakout Control, after applying, allow it to dry and then use your moisturizer on top, it may be used AM or PM. Breakout Control is formulated with gentle and effective ingredients that help to clear, control and prevent breakout by eliminating acne causing bacteria, reducing redness and controlling excess oil production. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
