I don't know why some reviewers had a hard time washing this sunscreen off, I had no problem with it, I really like it and love the matte finish to , I just wish the percentage of zinc was higher than 4%

Won't come off after a shower!

By Beach bum

Pros

  • Not Greasy

Cons

  • Doesn't rub in well
  • Gives skin white bluish cast

Best Uses

Comments about Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 Lotion:

This stuff is awful and did not wash off after scrubbing my skin with brush and soap in the shower. I swam in the pool, took hot soapy shower and it still felt like I had a disgusting sticky film on my skin after all that. I had to scrub it off my kids face with waterproof makeup remover, after washing with soap. Weird stuff..returned.

Sits on the skin like primer and I had to use a loofah to get it off my skin. Horrible. Replaced it with another Australian Gold sunscreen at half the price.

      Low Concentration of Active Ingredients

Comments about Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 Lotion:

I had to go the product's main website to get the active ingredient concentration. Ulta needs to fix that, especially when it comes to sunscreen. This product contains Titanium Dioxide 4% and Zinc Oxide 4%. Those are low concentrations and is most likely why some people are experiencing sunburn while using this product. If you're photosensitive, then find another daily sunscreen. The tinted version has the exact same concentration as well. Typically you want at least 5% from both active ingredients in a mineral sunscreen

Originally I choose this sunscreen because the tinted version was sold out. The tinted version was getting rave reviews, so I thought, what's the difference besides a slight white cast? I wear foundation anyways. Now that I know the concentration level, I'm glad that I do have an extra layer of protection because this will not be enough for me and I worry about the people only wearing the tinted version, but it's better than nothing. I also wouldn't recommend relying on this sunscreen if you plan to be out in the sun for an extended period of time, even if you do reapply every 2 hours because of the low concentration of active ingredients. Ideally you'd be using this as a daily sunscreen to throw on when you know you won't be outside for a long time.

This product was nothing special, and the botanical claims are over hyped. Sensitive or sensitized skin will likely hate this product. There is added fragrance, something they call Citrus Oasis. Citrus anything aggravates skin, and added fragrance in general does more harm than good. Similarly this product contains Eucalyptus, which is can also cause skin irritation. The product rubs in fairly quickly, but there is a slight white cast even on fair skin.

Comments about Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 Lotion:

I really love the spray version of this so I wanted to try the lotion for my face and chest. It is white. Very very white. It looks like you are wearing a mask. It will last a long time but it is difficult to rub in. I guess at least you can see where you put it.

      Horrible Stuff

      By Matt Bears

      from Palmetto Bay

Comments about Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 Lotion:

Had I kept the receipt, I would have taken it back. It rubs in poorly and did absolutely nothing to prevent sunburn. On top of that, I got laughed at while applying it because of the thick, white residue. Worse sunburn of my life and I even reapplied as directed!

Comments about Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 Lotion:

This product left a bright white layer of zinc oxide on my skin. And didn't really protect me from sunburn. Applied every hour and I look like a cotton ball. So disappointed because every other Australian Gold product I've ever used has been great.

I use this on my daughter who has sensitive skin and it works great. It isn't greasy and it provides great sun protection and she doesn't break out in a rash like she does with cheap kids sunscreen.

          Worst sun protection ever

          By Justrunningthru

          from Homestead, FL

Comments about Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 Lotion:

This product is hard to rub in evenly. it leaves a plaster-like white film all over you ans starts flaking off. Worst of all, it didn't even protect us from the sun leading to the worse sunburn we've had in awhile. We were covered in sticky white gunk that did absolutely nothing and required us to use make up remover to finally get rid of it!

Comments about Australian Gold Botanical SPF 50 Lotion:

The product smells great unlike the usual sunscreen smell. It doesn't feel greasy and it feels fresh. However, the white color does not blend well, I'm a dark skinned person and you can tell I have sunblock on even after a whole day of work (8 hours).
