Awards season is in full swing and red carpet after red carpet celebs have been debuting some serious glamour. The hottest mimic-worthy makeup: sun-kissed skin, bold lips and smoky eyes. Here, how you can translate the look of the stars to street style.
Bronzed Beauty
A-listers like Jennifer Lopez have some of the most amazing glows in Hollywood. The best way to achieve that radiance: a self-tanner that complements your skin tone, says celebrity makeup artist Mickey Williams. One to try: L'Oréal Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Towelettes. These are incredibly easy to apply without any mess. Vitamin E and alpha hydroxy acid work within your skin to make it super smooth. Just be sure to exfoliate your face and body beforehand, otherwise your tan will look blotchy. You can keep using the towelettes daily until you achieve your perfectly bronzed goddess glow.
Punchy Pout
Bold, bright lips have made an indelible impression this season, as seen on celebs like Jessica Alba, who rocked a bright orange lip at the Golden Globes. "Choosing the right color can be tricky," says Williams. "To be on trend, go for a matte finish in a bright pop of color." Try NYX Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Perfect Red. The full-on pigment formula means color to the max. It's a matte blend yet goes on smoothly.
Plus, it's the perfect shade of red for every complexion, so fair to olive fashionistas can get a little glamour to go. Just make sure lips are well conditioned to prevent flakes, says Williams. To get smooth lips, try Tarte Maracuja Lip Exfoliant. Dryness and flakes get the heave-ho with this pot of exfoliating gold. A blend of oils, antioxidants and vitamin C buff your lips beautiful. Apply it to your lips and rub gently in circular motions and then remove it with a damp tissue.
It's All in the Eyes
That come-hither stare has been everywhere (think: Taylor Swift's smudgy bronze look at the People's Choice Awards). Sultry eyes can translate for every occasion. "You can go from a subtle look for day to a richer, smoky look for night," says Williams. Smoky shades are generally shimmery, which means they can be easily layered to amp up the drama, says Williams. For a hot date, try a smoky eye with a red lip. Want a seriously sexy look? Try Smashbox Smokebox II Eyeshadow Palette. Shades of gray, brown, black and plum create some major smolder. Plus, with six hues to play with, you can go for soft smoke or all-out fire.
