You may be inclined to call it electric blue, but that would be so 1980 of you. This vibrant blue hue, a trend once again in 2011, shall be henceforth known as cobalt, sharing its name with the chemical element with the atomic number 27, if you're curious.

Harper's Bazaar was among the several fashion mags to name cobalt blue a trend color for 2011, and now you can't miss it as it shows up in clothing stores, accents interiors and, of course, makes its mark on the makeup scene. And it's no wonder—it's a complementary color on just about everyone. It will set off red hair, illuminate blond and add a dashing background for brunettes. It works in both summer and winter, and like other colors of a bold nature (think traffic-stopping red or blind-you-like-the-sun yellow), it demands attention.
