Comments about No7 Beautifully Matte Make Up Base:

This is my go to primer for my oily but sensitive and dehydrated skin! I hear it's being discontinued and I am SO SAD. I only put this on my forehead/nose/cheeks. You don't need a lot. I have never had it ball up on me or cause unevenness on me.I could be because it's water based and may work best with water based foundations. I breakout from silicone primers, so this aspect is great! The inclusion of salicylic acid may not combat acne outright, but it sure helps prevent in my opinion. It is not a miracle product by any means, but it significantly helps control oil to a noticeable extent!! The best oil control primer I have found by far!

I will forewarn you, this stuff is STICKY. It is white and very hard to blend. However, if you can get past that, it keeps you matte for quite a while!

I wanted to love this product so bad because i have oily skin! I needed a new primer, so i thought this sounded good. Unfortunately, I can't get this product to work with ANY foundation I use it with. It works at keeping my skin matte, but then my make up looks awful! I've been trying to finish the tube I have, but I think i'm going to toss it because it makes my foundation crease and seperate. I'd rather be oily than have my makeup look really cakey as the day goes on. It also makes my hands feel disgusting after i use it. It has the strangest consistency.

Comments about No7 Beautifully Matte Make Up Base:

Keeps me mostly matte and makeup stays in place all day! Winner; especially for a drugstore brand. Not the best application but if you rub it in until it is almost dry then dab you're fine. Becca matte primer does the same thing upon application and doesn't work as good as this and is tripe the price!

Comments about No7 Beautifully Matte Make Up Base:

I'm not going to declare this the best primer ever. However, I have tried MANY primers and this is the ONLY one I continue to purchase. I don't allow myself to get low on it without buying a replacement in advance. I have oily/acne prone skin. I feel like the salicylic acid helps prevent and/or treat my acne. I also feel like it does help control my oily skin. I have extremely oily skin. I tried a primer that works great for oil control but was way too mattifying and emphasized my pores and wrinkles. That was an expensive brand--it does the job, but I didn't like the appearance of my skin. I'm constantly searching for something better. I'll keep buying this until I do!

I agree with the comments below. It is not the best primer at all and its not long lasting. It is kinda bad, but i did try something new today and I noticed that it helped the primer work. I applied this primer and the benefit matte rescue and they are truly heaven sent. They keep your face matte all day. The test was with a foundation that makes me oily and it was able to keep my foundation on and reduce the shine on my skin so much. The combination was fantastic, but the product alone is pretty bad.

I have to agree with the other reviewers. This is awful. It has the consistency of toothpaste. Toothpaste may even give you a better finish. I have extremely oily skin and I could not get this to work with any foundation I tried to apply over it. I don't care if you dab and pat with your fingers, try to thin it out with a brush, spray on a primer spray with it, this hot mess patches and balls up. Even my beloved Colorstay was outdone by this primer. You cannot fully cover it.
I guess I will stick with my Makeup Forever Step 1 Mattifying Primer and keep looking for a drugstore alternative.

I have oily/dehydrated acne prone skin and was looking for a matte primer. The texture is smooth at first but then becomes sticky-dry. It then sometimes absorbs into the skin. Immediately the shine was gone on my face, but foundation goes on poorly over it. I tried many different foundations (all liquid), with different applicators (hands, brush, sponge). The foundation didn't seem to absorb into my skin and became cakey-smudge consistency with streaks. As a primer, it failed. Alone it works well to control oil. I would not buy again.

How you apply Beautifully Matte Make Up Base really comes to your personal preference: some customers like to use their fingers in little sweeping motions, others like to use little circles and pat it in place, while others prefer to apply it with their foundation brush. A little goes a long way with this, and remember you can always add more if you feel you need a little more coverage in some areas. Always moisturize before use.

Hello, my skin is dry in the morning and becomes gradually oily in the T-zone by noon. Should I try the non-matte primer or this one? I don't want a primer that dries out my skin and causes me to produce more oil and break out. Thank you

This primer is fantastic for people with oily, blemish prone skin that have a hard time keeping make up in place due to excess oil. If you choose this one, you may only find yourself using it in the t zone area. If you are looking for a primer less for corrective purposes and more for how it will make your foundation go on better and look better all day, you might prefer the Photo Fix. http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod4650055
It is still oil free, gives you an amazing glide, just a small amount is needed. You will find you use less foundation and it will look more natural on your skin. This product has the added benefit of minimizing the look of pores and imperfections with optical blurrers.
