            Comments about Dermalogica Active Moist:

I have combination to oily skin and after taking Dermalogica's online face mapping quiz and doing a bit of research, I decided to try the Active Moist moisturizer. For the first week I was very pleased - absorbed quickly, never greasy, lightweight, seemed moisturising, etc. However, after the first week my face began to dry out and after the third week my face was painfully dry (flaking, red), which I've never experienced before. When I talked to the dermalogica specialist at Ulta, she explained that this moisturizer is actually intented to combat oily skin and does indeed have a drying effect over time. Long story short, this product does not effectively moisturize. I now use the Skin Smoothing Cream and love it!

I have adult acne and tend to use too many products to manage it which makes me skin dry. Discovered Active Moist after always buying store brand. It is noticeably more moisturizing. I won't go back to the cheap stuff again.

I have sensitive skin and it goes perfect under makeup and leaves my skin glowing and soft. I will always go back to this product after using another moisturizer because this is definitely my favorite moisturizer.

                    • Q:

I have oily and sometimes combination skin with mild to moderate acne. I'm in the market for a new moisturizer and highly considering the active moist but I'm worried that it may cause breakouts due to some of the ingredients. Has anyone experienced increased breakouts due to this moisturizer or is it safe for acne prone skin?

I bought this today after telling the lady I have extremely oily skin. She said to get this because I have large pores and would regulate my oil production. I used it and while it feels good I'm still very oily. What would you recommend?

What is the difference between the active moist, intensive moisture and the skin smoothing cream? I have used the skin smoothing cream because my aesthetician recommends it, but I feel I need more moisture, so I'm looking at the intensive moisture product because of it's products name "intensive".

Thank you for your inquiry. Active Moist is an oil free, light weight moisturizer, Skin Smoothing Cream is a medium weight moisturizer for normal and combination skin and Intensive Moisture Balance is a heavy weight moisturizer for dry skin. If Skin Smoothing Cream is not moisturizing enough for you we recommend moving up to Intensive Moisture Balance.

                        A:

Thank you for your question. The dry/tight feeling you are experiencing is called dehydration where your skin is lacking water moisture even though you produce oil. To help with hydration you will need a healthy cleanser that won't strip your skin of this moisture and hydration products to help restore the moisture. Here's what I recommend for your skin.

                        Special Cleansing Gel
                        Multi Active Toner
Skin Hydrating Booster or Skin Hydrating Masque
                        Active Moist
                        Solar Defense Booster SPF 50

I hope you find this helpful and if you have any further questions please don't hesitate to ask :)

MultiActive Toner will help you moisturizer absorb and moisturizer your skin better. For moisturizer we recommend Skin Smoothing Cream to help hydrate skin without being too heavy.
