Ask a Question
Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot & Area Treatment is an extra strength, non-drying, non-irritating, oil-controlling, invisible 5% colloidal sulfur acne treatment with 4 % glycolic acid complex, aloe vera, allantoin, botanical extracts and vitamins C, E & pro vitamin B5. For the treatment, control and prevention of moderate to severe acne.
Clean the skin thoroughly before applying this product. Cover the entire affected area with a thin layer one to three times daily. Because excessive drying of the skin may occur, start with one application daily, then gradually increase to two or three times daily if needed or as directed by a doctor. If bothersome dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day.
Active: Colloidal Sulfur 5%.

Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot & Area Treatment:

Sulfur based products work amazingly well for my adult acne. This particular product has helped clear up a serious breakout just this past week. This product is great but you don't get enough bang for your buck and I can't see buying it again. It smells pretty awful, but it fades fast so don't fear using it during the day. I do recommend this to anyone suffering from adult acne, but use sparingly if you can. I've not had a problem with my skin drying, nor have I had any irritation from the sulfur in this product.

Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot & Area Treatment:

Used one time on 2 large cysts and remarkably almost gone overnight! Such. A fan. This is the best stuff I've found for cystic hormonal acne. I went in Ulta to get another product that I *thought* I was happy with and the sales rep told me about the % of sulfur effectiveness. I also love that it had colloidal silver at 5%. Huge fan and I've struggled with cystic acne on and off for about 20 years. Now going to explore more of the line

      Good for deep, cystic acne

Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot & Area Treatment:

I have struggled with acne on and off for a long time - my biggest challenge right now is balancing anti-aging with cystic/hormonal acne. I like this product because the sulfur seems to finally make a difference on my cystic (large, inflamed, deep) spots although it doesn't seem to work for small whiteheads and superficial breakouts. This is nice to use under makeup and I actually had the best luck when combining this with the Kate Somerville Eradikate. I would use Eradikate at night and this product during the day. Eradikate is very drying, this isn't as drying but also doesn't seem to work as fast on my cystic acne as Eradikate. I hope this helps someone who is also in my position!

This does what it's supposed to do. When I have a blemish, or one I can tell is forming, I put this on the spot before bed and by morning it's gone.

This stuff smells HORRIBLE though! I put up with the scent because it works so well, but be prepared for it to assault your nostrils (it is sulfur afterall).

I was skeptical at first especially with the price but after the first night my acne had nearly vanished and I was breaking out severely. However, it stings when applied but only for a couple seconds.

            Worth it, best drying cream

            By Emily

Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot & Area Treatment:

This product does have a bit of an unfortunate smell, but that's because it contains sulphur. But for a night cream to eliminate spots, this is the best I've ever used. It seriously diminishes lumps, bumps, whiteheads, etc. overnight -- without overly drying out your skin. It's like magic. I have struggled with severe cystic acne for over a decade now (I'm only 23), and this product is top-notch. Buying more!!

Comments about Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot & Area Treatment:

This stuff is really intense. Perhaps too intense. I bought this as something to use during the day on my cystic acne instead of my usual mario badescu acne products. I could take this with me to work and it smelled slightly less of sulfur. When I applied it to my acne I could definitely feel it working. It does help with acne, but it will also dry your skin out very very fast. I put this on some small spots on my cheeks and now I have some nasty scaly patches and very irritated skin. However the spots around my chin (which are the deepest ones) are healing nicely without scaly patches! Long story short: I really only recommend using this on moderate/bad acne where you have thicker skin! Stick too less intense stuff for other areas

Should I apply this product after my serum and moisturizer, or before moisturizing?

Also, is it safe to use this in conjunction with a glycolic acid serum? I am an african-american woman treating oily, acne-prone skin with hyperpigmentation.

                A:

We recommend you apply it to the affected area only and under any other products, so onto clean, dry skin. If your skin does not become too dry or irritated, you can use this in conjunction with a gylcolic acid serum.
